Should I listen to the Fan now?

So, uh, what reason does The Fan have exactly for continuing to take up studio space and useable airwaves?

well, its around so this site can continue to have people talk smack about the station.

And for whatever it's worth: Cowboys radio ratings on its new flagship, The Fan, were down this season. From Week 3 through the end of the season, they were down almost 11 percent among listeners 12 years old and up. Among men 25-54, the ratings were down 29 percent."

That's a bad sign when Cowboy games can't even draw an audience. I hope Jerry has an escape clause written into his contract w/ the Fan. ;D

At the desk of my coworker who has his radio on the FAN: First of all, for way over an hour, they've been talking about kids having sex with teachers and zero mention of any sports.

Anyway.... I just overhead one of the show host (not sure who it was) tell the "audience" (I'm paraphrasing a little, but not much)....."Feel free to call in, and if we're not talking about something that interest you, just change the subject."

Now if that's not SPORTS radio, I don't know what is!!! :

I found it interesting that the PPM's have KTCK listed as "Sports." KRLD-FM's format is shown as "All Sports."

Speaking of that...the formats for more than a dozen stations in this market are wrong or missing on radio-info's PPM listings (i.e. KLNO is regional Mexican now, KFZO is Spanish adult hits, KJKK is adult hits, KZZA is regional, KPMZ is soft AC/oldies, KESS-FM is Spanish hot AC, KLIF-FM is CHR, KVRK is Christian rock, KZMP is Spanish sports, KMKI is children's, KGGR is gospel, KFXR is talk/classic country, KFWR and KHYI are Americana, etc.).

Whenever I tune into the Fan lately they're hardly ever talking sports. I think Newey & Richie are the only true sports guys on that station everyone else does lifestyle talk. And is it just me or does the Fan seem to have a bias against the NBA because they never talk about the Mavs and when they do there always ripping on the NBA. Anyone else notice this?

I said the same thing I thought I was the only one. If there not pounding Cowboy talk there talking about some damn scandal Tiger Woods, Rothlesburger even though the Mavs are on a 13 game win streak. The only reason I listen to the FAN is I cant pick up AM in my office building and we cant stream at work.

I said the same thing I thought I was the only one. I guess until the Mavs get to the finals will the Fan acknowlege them. I know this is a football town and all but when was the last time the Cowboys even sniffed a Super Bowl? Pretty sad when your whole programming revolves around 1 team.

Every show talks about the same thing over and over again. Yesterday afternoon, one of the shows spent way to long taking calls about what actor could play Tom Landry in a movie. This morning, Jagger's show is spending way to much time taking calls about the same thing. I'm going to have to start listening every now and then just to see what a train wreck this station has become.

Seems like some of the hosts at the Fan are responding to text messages lately. I remember Sean Salisbury got in trouble for this. I guess Bigby has eased up on texting.
