SHOULD STATIONS TAKE PUMPED UP KICKS OUT OF RECURRENT

Do you guys think that pop stations (and HACs) should take Pumped Up Kicks out of recurrent rotation for the next couple weeks? I know it's hard for me to listen to it right now...

How about Keisha's "Die Young?" I realize the message of the song is positive and has nothing to do with this situation, but a chorus repeating that phrase over and over? If I was a CHR, I'd take it off the playlist for a few days at least. If I'm a CHR in Connecticut, maybe even longer than that.

I imagine Cumulus CHRs will be playing 'Die Young' in power for at least the next 3-4 years. That is the way of Cumulus.

My local CC CHR rarely still plays 'Pumped Up Kicks.' As for the Cumulus one, there are many other songs I would rather they take out of power than that one, such as "You're A Jerk" by LFMAO.

Sorry (didn't realize I didn't write this into original post)...

Should stations not play Pumped Up Kicks given the elementary school shooting in Connecticut that happened Friday?

I wouldn't. Maybe if I was in that area, but nationally, no. That's just me, though.
I'm sorry about what happened, but the song doesn't really bother me personally

Gosh, I probably haven't heard this song even in recurrent for about a year (on CHR). I was under the impression that it sort of faded.

One of my local stations, WNTQ, stopped playing it. Also, there are a bunch of stations which have dropped it, causing it to fall on the charts and drop out of number one.

I've never heard it on the radio in any format anyway. The Cincinnati stations either never touched it or hardly ever played it.

Yeah, just saw that - the bullet for "Die Young" has completely collapsed (-1077), apparently on a majority of stations nationwide

Luckily, for Ke$ha, the song was peaking...

I was getting tired of the track, so I don't really care, but that just seems a little extreme IMO - any idea if it was a major company removing it like play-it-safe Cumulus?

B-93.7 in Greenville is still playing it pretty heavily

How nice of stations to try to police thoughts with a mass record-burning like this.

This is even worse than the ban on George Michael's "I Want Your Sex" back in 1987.

From scanning yes.com, it looks like all the Cumulus stations either backed off or pulled the plug on Die Young, but so did a lot of non-Cumulus stations

I'm guessing it's not a permanent move, though - probably just for a week or so to show respect for the victims/families - it also looks like Cumulus has pulled Pumped Up Kicks from recurrent (pretty sure a lot of stations had it in recurrent last week)

Does anybody remember "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry that charted in the teens? last year? I don't know if any non-country stations still play it, but if "Die Young" is "offensive", than it seems like it would be too...

I'm sorry, I can see "Pumped Up Kicks", but pulling "Die Young" is just ridiculous IMO, outside of maybe the area of the crime. CC is still playing it on their CHR's.

I didn't know that stations were still playing "Pumped Up Kicks." Even the recurrent heavy Cumulus CHRs dropped it many months ago. At least the ones that I am most familiar with didn't have it on the playlist.

^Pumped Up Kicks was definitely still in recurrent on a good deal of CHRs (as of a week ago) - that was just from scanning AllAccess

"If I Die Young" was a recurrent on Star 94 as of last week, and as of right now it's dropped out of their Top 50
