Shows that need/deserve to be cancelled

This is one of the most asanine posts I've ever seen. Shows that deserve/should be cancelled? This is all a matter of taste and opinion. Sure, plenty of shows often overstay their welcome, but when the economics of producing that show no longer make sense, they go away.

With the multitude of channels available today, its ridiculous to say that any of these shows should 'go away'. If you don't like them, then don't watch.

With that said, will someone please put "the Simpsons" out of its misery. Bart and Lisa should be approaching their 30s by now.

What misery? They're still doing well with a loyal fan base, still making money....what, exactly, is the misery? No one's being forced to watch. :D

- Tosh.0 (wannabe Soup show)

Really, you want to cancel the #4 show on Comedy Central ratings-wise? I'm glad you're not running my network.

I know that, but I'm just saying what shows should die already. I never said they WILL be cancelled. Look at people who say American Idol should be cancelled, isn't it a top-rated show?

This is so subjective. If every member of the forum participated, everyone's list would be different, and every show would be on there somewhere.

And I'm surprised people are saying Idol should be canceled. I - like most people on this board, apparently - have grown tired of it. But you can't deny that it's a ratings success. It places in the top 10 for multiple nights nearly every week it's on the air. WHY would they cancel it when most of network TV prime time continues to struggle to find success?

Idol is also one of the few shows that is a ratings success and is family friendly. It's really one of the few shows for someone under 15. Glee might do well attracting that group, but is a bit too broadway/artsy for the common viewer.

Thanks for stepping on my joke... I was trying to illustrate my point that everyone has shows they don't like. It doesn't mean they're not worthy of an audience.

Gee golly! A thread on radio-info onto which people have the unmitigated gall to express their personal subjective opinion.

I'm sure that's never happened before...0

1. This is easily one of the most unoriginal questions ever asked in the National TV forum.

2. Why would I check-off a list of shows that *should* be cancelled, when it's likely I've never made any effort to watch them? Seems a touch wasteful in everyone else's time. Such a list is about as useful as 'The top ten domestic cars I'll never trade my Honda for' or 'College football teams I'll never root for as a Buckeye fan'.

The thread topic didn't interest you?

I can't belive the distaste for the Big Bang Theory, it's the only show I watch now. Besides reruns that is, but I guess that's what makes horseraces huh?

Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition ain't going away anytime soon, and the ratings prove it (they're like the top two syndicated magazine shows).

Whenever the economy goes down...the interest in celebrity news picks up. Its been that way since the 30's when people ( well a good many of them anyway ) were more interested in what Joan Crawford and Clark Gable/Carole Lombard were doing than their own family. A way to "escape the hard times" I guess.

Same thing now. You be surprised at the number of folks ( mostly in the older crowd ) who care more for the welfare of Michael Jackson's kids or Tom Cruise's daughter Suri than their own grandchildren. Shouldn't be that way.....but sadly it is.

Big bang theory is one of my favorite shows also.

the ones the need to go
30 Rock, Cougartown, parks and Recreation, Surviver, Big brother, dancing With the stars ,and the Fox knock off version, American Idol, The Nanny, wifeswap and the knock off version on fox, all reality shows on MTV and VH1, Nancy Grace and Joy from HLN, CNN, TV lands 5 millionth showing of Andy Griffith, CBS NEWS with Katie Couric.

Don't you mean Breaking News with Nancy Grace? Or, her spin-off show Just In...? :D Joking aside, Clark Howard is the only reason I would watch HLN at all.

As for this topic, I used to wish certain shows would get cancel but I've moved past that. However, certain commercials I would like for them to go away much sooner than their intended run. On the other hand, their replacements could be much worse than the current generation.
