Why would Cox Radio do that??? They have the active rock audience to themselves. If they still owned WIOD as they once did, the time to have put 610 on FM, or launch an FM station was 15 to 20 years ago when 610 had a live and local presence with better ratings. Cox Radio no longer has a news-talk station in their cluster. They would have to syndicate CC talk shows that are on either 610 or on 940. Wasting a 100,000 watt signal on automated talk shows will not make up the difference for their 100 million dollar purchase of 93.1. They can make more money with their rock format, than they would with syndicated automated talk. Leave the automation and VT'd shows to CC.
 
Not sure who's going to replace Sid, but they need to move forward with whoever it is. Last few weeks have been BAD- Dave LaMont, Ed Berliner, PD Steve White, Jason Jackson, The remaining Dos Amigo (whichever one it is)...YIKES. Can't believe I'm going to say this, but Joel Feinberg did a better job of running 790 than Lincoln Financial is doing.
 
He might have talked too much about NY, think about it, how many people from SF, Boston, Philly, so on and so on cared ( nobody ) but to me he had the most knowledge of any sports talker in town.

I was listening to Mandich for a little bit today and I was thinking "God this guy is awful and he's making how much? He must have pictures"

Or be a overrated former Dolphin! And I say that being born and raised here and I love the Dolphins.

According to Barry Jackson Sid's got interest in L.A. but can't be on air in SoFla until the Fall due to a no compete clause.
 
And Qam would be weird seeing as it was Qam That tipped off the NFL that Sid was giving live results of NFL games which is an obvious No-No. Also on an unrelated note I loved hearing D.A. the other day take a shot at the station by saying "If this place had A Text Service maybe I could interact with you more"
 
if I were a betting man, I'd say Sid goes back to NYC. However, jobs are tough to come by and I understand his wife doesn't want to move back. If he stays in South Florida, he ends up on WQAM (unless 790 were to change their minds, which they should, and bring him back). If you're a sports talk host and plan to be in the area long term, it makes sense to be at 560. They're the one that's going to be standing at the end. 940, 640 and 1400 are pretenders at best. It will be interesting to watch.

I would agree & disagree here. QAM is like the Yankees. They spend. But, have not spent wisely. Which means they'll always overspend for talent, but it doesn't always work out. Hello Mandich makes over a half a million for a 2.5 share? They won't be left standing in a few years if all they have is Joe Rose in the AM. Neil's on his last legs. Don't know any station that will pay him at (almost) age 70 when his current deal is up. Mandich probably won't live past his current contract in PM Drive. Joe Bell is no idiot. They'll hire the likes of Sid, Sedano or LeBatard in the next five years (I'm willing to bet they get all 3). The only remaining body from this incarnation will be Joe Rose. That's how they'll be left standing.

make his ratings even better and that way QAM has a replacement on board
 
Do you think WQAM is planning on replacing Neil with Jorge Rodriguez when he finally retires? Speaking of replacements...what 790 is doing in mornings is brutal. Basically unlistenable. Whatever their long term plan is, they better unleash it soon. Joe Rose is throwing a smack down on them.
 
jorge will become like specter levine the beast contributer to the host which will be rosenberg
