Since Jack and Rock 93.9's days appear to be numbered...

Unfortunately for JackFM it is a good night for a handover. I say that as a listener to K-Love because 100.9 is having some interference tonight with another station in Alabama. Living in Forest I can also get their Meridian stations so I am listening to 98.9 until the midnight hour. I am writing this at 11:17 PM listening to WLKO until the midnight hour. At midnight I will switch to the new K-Love on 94.7

The PD at JackFM has selected his last song. The song is:

Goodbye from Night Ranger

JackFM is not going to wait until Midnight to sign off. They said on Twitter that they will be bidding farewell at 11PM tonight. Their Facebook page is gone and JackFM fans are sharing their condolances.

It's almost 11:45 and they're still on. However, they've had a pretty interesting song selection for the 11p hour:

"In the End" by Linkin Park
"If You Leave" by OMD
"Photograph" by Nickelback
"(Don't You) Forget About Me"
"American Pie"
"Bittersweet Symphony"
"The Final Countdown"
"Goodbye Stranger"

BTW, what happens to 100.9?

And there we have it...Jack is no more. Nice knowing you the last 7-8 years. Now, we await for Rock 93.9's departure from the terrestrial airwaves.

Both 94.7 and 93.9 are dead air during the rain storm while 100.9 carries on with K-Love. I also detect a seven second delay between the program on 94.7 and 100.9 when both were broadcasting

How long will 100.9 keep running K-Love and what plans do they have afterwards?

EMF, the owner of K-LOVE and Air 1, still has a lease with Flinn Broadcasting for 12 more months. They can't find anyone to take it on.

Evidently the market is VERY down right now if the story in the Clarion ledger is correct in stating that EMF bought both 93.9 and 94.7 for only $2mm.

Different rumors say the lease on JXN is as little as 6k (maybe a sublet from EMF?) and and as much as 14K a month.

Rock939.com was having troubles with getting on the Internet earlier. Both 947JackFM.com and rock939.com earlier was parked at Network Solutions after the sites were pulled. At about 2AM when I checked rock939.com and they are finally on the air over the Internet.

The last few days they have been working on the internet station off and on. They may not have it right yet. try them every now and then and you might just catch them when playing their style of Rock

EMF likely has a temp dish set up while they prepare the transmitter sites to run the formats unattended... to answer another persons questions once the MSW (Main Studio Waiver) goes thru the stations will operate from their respective transmitter sites and the public file will be located in Rockin CA.

Backyard Broadcasting paid $5 million for the stations when it acquired them in April of 2002. I don't understand why they would sell them for such a low price. Hopefully, one of the lower-rated stations will pick up the Jack format. WJKK wouldn't even need to change their call letters.

I wrote K-Love about when it was going to be on their list of stations on the K-Love site and here is what they wrote back:

It is great to know you're listening to K-LOVE in Forest, Mississippi! When new acquisitions are made, we work the next several weeks with the FCC and our Engineers, making any adjustments needed to our new signal to make sure it is not interfering with any others in the area. Once that is completed, we post the signals on our website. So, you should see it posted on our Radio Stations website in the next week or two.

I think there isn't much they have to do.

K-LOVE on 94.7 is still using the same call letters WWJK during their hourly "check in." Air1 on 93.9 is using the call letters WJAI, assuming the calls stand for Jackson's AIR1. Their first day on the air, they did use the original calls WRXW and the following day they were WJAI-FM
I am hearing rumors about another active rock station for Jackson in the near future, I hope it comes to fruition. There is indeed a hole in Jackson radio with a true active rock station.

I do hope a new rock station comes along soon. I'm not the biggest rock fan in the world, but I would like to be able to hear the new Foo Fighters or Metallica songs if they were to come out now on the radio. I'd like for another Jack-like station to resurface too.

Could it be on 100.9? Someone mentioned 780AM may be getting 92.7 translator. I doubt many people would listen to rock on AM anymore but with an FM translator it would help. 92.7 is too flea power to do any real damage. There is an 10,000 watt AM station called "The Gump" in Montgomery, AL that plays rock that has a little 80 watt translator so who knows.

92.7 would not be a good candidate for rock, in my opinion. I live in north Jackson and I don't get a clear signal in my car and I get no reception in my house. A rock format really wouldn't reach it's target audience effectively. Having the old blues format wouldn't hurt me one bit, though.
