Sinclair drops theCoolTV from stations

While Antenna TV could be added, Sinclair could also extend its affiliation agreement with This TV to markets where This lost an affiliation to another network or the scant few where they have never had an affiliate. Oklahoma City is one of those situations where a This TV affiliation on a Sinclair station might be plausible, Hearst-owned KOCO is dropping the network in favor of Me-TV in October as part of an expanded affiliation agreement with that network. If Sinclair expanded its affiliation agreement with This TV to other markets where no affiliate is present, KOCB 34.2 (which carried TheCoolTV) would most likely be the one who gets it. Antenna TV is out of the question since KFOR got the Antenna TV affiliation by way of its owner Local TV, which ATV's owner Tribune Broadcasting co-manages.

North Carolina's Piedmont Triad, however, would be totally out of the question for Antenna TV since another Local TV-owned station WGHP has that affiliation, so This TV (which WXII dropped for Me-TV) would be the only option for WMYV.

A number of these stations affiliated with ThisTV for their subchannel before there was such thing as Me-TV or Antenna TV. These days, I would think Antenna TV would be more appealing to stations and viewers than ThisTV. I've noticed that ThisTV has broadened their movie selection outside of the MGM (UA/Orion/AIP) "B" library and has picked up movie packages from Trifecta (Paramount library) and Sony, but the bulk still comes from that MGM library.

In Tallahassee we allready have Me-TV on FOX 49.3 WTLH we have This TV/My Network TV on WCTV-DT2
And Bounce TV on ABC 27.3 The only thing is missing is Antenna TV may go to WTWC 40.2 if Sinclair and Antenna TV and other Sinclair station can make a deal to relace The Cool Music TV. We have to wait and see what will happen.

Newport dropped TheCoolTV from Jackson, TN's WJKT FOX 16.2, which channel 176 on Charter. Live Well Network is on it now. It's a shame because I liked TheCoolTV.

Here is an article concerning former affiliate WFGX-TV in the Mobile, Alabama-Pensacola, Florida TV market (it includes details about a live video stream for the Cool Music Network's programming also).

Interestingly enough, I just saw a promo that announced that KSBI will dump Tuff TV from its 52.2 subchannel and assume the This TV affiliation in the market from KOCO 5.2. So This TV and Antenna TV are neither available options for KOCB 34.2 (which apparently has now been deleted completely), which leaves TNN, though I'm not too sure about that since Luken Communications' networks are now affiliating more towards lower-profile stations since it lost a lot of major network affiliations for RTV to This TV, Me-TV and Antenna TV plus the fact that TNN could be redundant with The Country Network on the second subchannel of sister station KOKH.

WPTY and WLMT in Memphis are sister stations to WJKT in Jackson and all operate out of the same place. WPTY had the CoolTV and also dropped it in favor of Live Well Network. All three stations are owned by Newport Television but will be sold to Nextar Broadcasting Group.

What is the Live Well Network? Similar to Discovery Health?

Discovery Health & Fit at least features medical advice and good programming. Think what would happen if ABC aired The Chew and The Revolution 24/7, combine it with the terrible consumer reports you see on the local 4 o'clock newscasts and add so much New Age advice and programming even John Tesh would puke ::). That's Live Well Network in a nutshell. Most of its programming is substandard and it has the direct response advertising to prove it. When some stations killed RTV (even in it's terrible Crook-and-Chase/CanCon reruns age this year), you'd swear the viewers thought their Folgers had been replaced with hotel room coffee; it's a network the stations love but viewers at best tolerate, or completely avoid at worst.

And I was reading that in Washington, D.C. they replaced RTV with this Live Well Network. Wow, John Tesh would puke at this network? Must be pretty bad, and I am thankful Austin doesn't carry it. Oh I shouldn't have said it, because I gave them an idea. Since some Belo stations are carrying it :-X

You definitely hit the mark on your description for LWN. It's as if ABC tried to force the service down its largest affiliate partners' throats (many did cave in, at least Hearst didn't). Stations like it because it gives them the flexibility to air their "paid lifestyle" show a couple more times a day. Our ABC station has been using their LWN subchannel for breaking news and weather on a number of occasions.

It's 'TheCoolTV', not 'the Cool Music Network'

Technically, the company which owns TheCoolTV is called "Cool Music Network."

I think the worst part of the Live Well Network is that ABC is cramming onto the multiplex in 720p, meaning each station has TWO 720p feeds to shoehorn into their transmission. Yuck!

ABC is only doing this with their O&O stations. Affiliates aren't required to run dual HD. I agree that it looks horrible. I didn't realize how horrible it looked, until I was visiting a place that has both an outdoor antenna & DirecTV, & saw the Livewell subchannel. It definitely looks horrible. Watching on my old analog TV & converter box, & I would notice the picture not looking great. Seeing the channel on an HDTV made it look worse. Surprisingly, WLS-TV 7.1 looks ok.

That's because they're crushing the Live Well HD down to almost nothing to keep ABC from looking like crap.

Granite has apparently followed suit.

COOLTV has been dropped by WMYD in Detroit and I presume other markets where Granite carried it.

Maybe this will create an opening for TuffTV.

I hope so.

You're more likely to see Me-TV be the replacement than TuffTV. Granite has experience with them in San Francisco, and Detroit still doesn't have a Me-TV affiliate.

Still kind of quiet since all Sinclair TV stations drop The Cool Music TV network. Here in Tallahassee Fla. WTWC-DT 40.2 still on a blank srceen. I wonder what they will put on next? and how long its take to find another network to fill in?

They're probably looking for a service with a business model in which there is some kind of revenue sharing. I take it that's what TheCoolTV promised affiliates, but could not deliver, henceforth three different station groups dropping them for the same reason.
