Sinclair selling KOMO, KVI & KPLZ

Re: the $5 million cash (plus trade) for the entire transaction... Sinclair paid nearly $7 million for KOMO-FM alone.

Good grief. Awkward transition. But I guess do it at New Years. Heavy call changes here. But times do change. And most don’t care about call letters anymore. That said, Komo calls are historic. Sad.

Not only that, but KNWX as an all news station didn't last long, maybe a couple years? KOMO as an all news station has far outlasted KNWX, and KNWN makes sense as meaning northwest news. The report I saw implied that both call changes would take effect at midnight. I tuned in at 11:00 P.M. as usual, and heard what I suspect might be the last KOMO legal, but haven't monitored via internet this morning. Are they still identifying as KOMO this morning?

Is KNWN used by any FM stations right now? If someone else has those calls, KOMO-FM cannot use them. But the old KFMY 'The Eagle' calls are still available!

Nope. KNWN is now used for 1000 but KNWN-FM **IS** available.

Hmmm...Could there be different plans for 97.7??? Why would they not apply for the calls for the FM, unless ...

Lotus has already applied for KNWN-FM for 97.7 but that change has not yet taken effect.

Where does everyone see that the new calls are already in effect for the AM? I read Radio Insight's FCC reports every week, and the only AM call change I saw was one in Rosswell NM which recently changed formats.

If the call letters have officially changed, but you're still using the previous ones on air for station ID, isn't that an FCC no-no? Assume the big relaunch will happen Monday morning.

You can see this via the FCC public file, as well as pulling up the facility's callsign history.

Correct, it is considered false identification.
