sirius revolution being silenced

revolution on sirius is disappearing come feb 14th. so no more christian rock on sat radio. are there any fm christian rock stations left?

Now that many cell phones have internet access (less than $30 a month or better) listeners can pick up a digital internet stream almost anywhere, including cars. I've heard that the increased availability of this type of technology is going to be a challenge for satellite. We've had listeners from out-of-state tell us they are listening to our station on a mobile device in their car - some radios have an input for such devices.

Can you get your money back on that satellite radio?

Not sure if they're still solid rock. But at least a Rock-leaning CHR, I think.

HA! Look whos coming crawling back! I thought you hated traditional radio. =)

KRNG-FM 101.3 (Renegade Radio) from the Sierra Nevada area is a Christian CHR station that plays a mixture of Christian Rock, Christian Rhythmic and Christian Alternative sounds. They live stream seems to be back and running.

dont want my money back. i cant get outlaw country on fm..or album rock..

Not sure how well it actually goes over with listeners, but hip-hop is socially acceptable in Christian Rock radio. Some hip-hop singles are actually released only to Christian Rock (not even the tiny Christian Rhythmic format).

i found a christian rock station with cd quality. radio aol--christian rock--now playing hawk nelson

I would say listen to my internet radio station but I play some hiphop and I also play some pop/CHR so its not pure Christian rock.

Christian Rock is still a fairly small niche in who is programming the format, thus you see some that play pop and some that throw in hip hop with the rock.

It would be nice if the format could be more defined but not enough stations, specially AM and FM doing it =(

Very disappointing. Just went through this with XM. Odd too , because my terrestrial Christian AC has added Switchfoot, Sanctus Real, Mat Kearney, The Fray, and the latest Toby Mac because "rock leaning music is testing really well." Maybe as more AC's move to a more comtemporary music sound the Christian Rock format is being absorbed and becoming the new AC? Just a theory - maybe a hopeful one. Would love to hear your thoughts on new adds. Even though I think Sirius is dropping the ball, I'm encouraged with terrestrial Christian radio - at least the progressive sound of our local one at this time.

Christian AC is so varied by market that I don't know if it will become the 'next' Christian Rock, though looking back on the history of Christian music on radio... Current AC format of today would be considered "edgy" just a matter of years ago...

Most Christian AC stations, and I don't claim to be an expert seem to very in their formats (must be what Becky in their areas are wanting) some play a lot of stuff I'd consider "gold" -- I've seen a few stations still spinning songs such as "I can only imagine" like 40-50 times a week... but I guess from how I understand it, in today's media if Becky wants an oldie 50 times a week then do it.

With the advent of HD Radio (IBOC) -- it's possible we'll see Christian FM's that do AC mainly add more niche formats and leave the talk to AM.

Look at Z 88.3 in Orlando, I think they are on the right target with a hip hop and a alternative HD sub channels. I know if I was in the Orlando market I would buy me a HD Radio just to listen to their sub channels.

Christian rock

The problem with Christian rock is revenue. There isn't a viable business model to make money. Christian rock is generally targeted to teens and young adults. Advertisers want to buy 25-54 demos not teen demos. That's one of the primary reasons why Christian AC is growing and Christin rock is shrinking. 99% of the Christian rock stations are non-commercial.

There needs to be a new model to generate revenue for Christian rock stations to grow.

i am 38 not 18..just fyi..

The rock tunes are moving to Spirit. From what I was reading, Spirit is now going to air a weekly program called Spirit Rocks. This new program is suppose to play the Rock tunes, already being played on Revolution.

I wonder which day of the week, this program will be aired and will Sirius bring in a new music format, to channel 67? (6067 on Dish Network)

Inquiring minds want to know.

I am 27 so I am not exactly in the demographics either, though I am a male which tends to be more of a Christian Rock target (at least talking to those that are programming Christian Rock full time they target "billy" and not "becky" ... but billy is typically 12-24 with very little income, could be saved, could not be, could be in college, could be in high school, etc...

I would really love to see the stations that are AC on their Analog channels to HD on their HD-2 or even HD-3 channels to give Christian Rock a chance.. Kinda like what Z88.3 in Orlando is doing.

The "space" that Revolution used is going to the new '90s Alternative channel ... The rest of Sirius' changes are a shuffle or rebranding existing streams.

I listened more to the Muzak Spirit station anyways (via Dish Network) when I have music feeds on my TV. Decent music without the announcers interrupting the flow to "connect" and promote the stream. I did appreciate there being three different religious formats on Sirius, especially one for the harder audiences that may just go to the "secular" Sirius channels to get their beat.
