Sirius XM dumping "The Strobe" to online only

I'm not knocking anyone who truly likes XM, but I think Satellite Radio would be more important to me if I lived in Cuba or something. I guess it's just unfortunate that I happen to truly love the one sound they do not feature - which is rhythmic, or a dance friendly rhythmic.

In Cuba, I learned about WiLD 98.7 and WEOW in Florida because I was forced to try to search for and pick up those stations from overseas since Cuba doesn't even have at least a Soft Ac or radio disney type station in english!

You're not going to find those in Cuba though driving through the Keys, you're able to get a lot of those stations there. One station imparticular was playing the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, as if someone put a needle on the record and let it play! No VO's, no station identifier!

Juventud Rebelde (the Cuban Communist Youth Arm) is an interesting station there.

Tony and the XM community:

I wanted to ask 2 questions concerning the removal of The Strobe.

Was this deliberate or a business decision and why? Does anyone have the truth about this?

I picked up 92.7 from Florida in Cuba. I'm not sure if that's WEOW, but that's what I was told in another section of these boards under the troposphere topic. WiLD 98.7 (Now 94.1) was much harder to pick up, but I did get them occasionally, and remember their 5 o clock mixshow where Kosheen and Dj Laz and I believe ATB was even played in it. They had the morning show with the booty bass mix and another one where they played Precious "why can't you see" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkXE8Jcr-ts I was only able to pick up these stations in Cuba if the sky's were clear (over the ocean between Cuba and Flordia). I believe there was or is a Y100 point something, where they used to host an interactive 5 at 9 countdown back in 2000.

I discovered Cynthia's "if I had the chance" and KromOzone Project's "Take my love" on 92.7 while in Cuba. in 1998. I also first discovered  Daniel Beddingfield's "gotta get through this" on that same station in 2002 (and I discovered "I'll know how to love you" by China Dolls first on Atlanta's WBTS 95.5 The Beat, but also heard it on that Florida station with Daniel Beddingfield around that same time). I guess you have to be near the coast of Cuba to get those stations. I also remember Cubans driving through the neighborhood with those stations playing. Two guys were in a van with La Bouche "In your life" playing on 92.7... I'm not sure if they knew where the signal was coming from because most Cubans don't speak english.. and the people on 92.7 only spoke english.

I also... actually, I have all the Florida stations in Cuba info in this link I JUST found right here!!! http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=115416.0  ;D

Enjoy.

OK I TAKE BACK WHAT I SAID ABOUT SIRIUS XM!

Here I am talking about how it would only be good for people like me in places like Cuba, and out of all times for my mom to randomly pull up to ask me to check out her new car - Which has XM in it!

The Kiss Channel is not all as bad as it would seem based on the comments seen on the bpm comments section! In addition to this, they don't even feature that channel on the Dish Network that she's currently in the process of getting rid of, so it looks as if there are less things that I would be interested in than there really are. It's not THAT big of a deal - as I was able to program all my favorite stations within the 6 presets, but what's available Xm-wise on Dish Network didn't really make me excited about it at all. Well I guess Kiss would be a dance friendly rhythmic, and the Pop2k channel, which I also wasn't aware of, played Amber's "sexual" within the 2 minutes I spent on that channel. So it's not like it's as anti-dance as one would think, based on XM complaints. Is it worth paying for? Well, that's a different question. BUT, if I got that type of radio line up on the dial (with mixshows added) to replace whatever I had now, I wouldn't complain, especially in.. ok never mind about specific places. Just know I wouldn't complain.

Sirius XM isn't really as bad as I thought. They even have a bunch of talk radio stations I could turn to when local talk radio sucks on the weekends!

Sirius XM is OK. I caught them with a few stations in the mix, so of course I was a little more excited, but not really that big of a deal outside of about two or three stations that are alright. BBC does help a lot. The Kiss and Pop2K Channels are really no big deal, except for the fact that they may do things a bit differently from traditional terrestrial radio, depending on which region you live in. None of those two channels seem to have any mixshows mixing anything deeper than regular pop remixes. Without BPM and BBC, I'd be much less interested in Sirius XM.

KDM I was going to mention bbc bpm and THE HEAT which has gotten better since my hatemail,,, still no true Dance on there,, but they have added in the in between electro Hip Hop hits,,, the latest being Pitbull and T_pains latest,, which is a direct rip off of Sexy Chick,, but I still like it.

I need to refrase this,, as it wasnt a hatemail at all, but it was actually very polite and I mentioned some Sugestions,,, DION said thank you,, we love to hear listener feebback, and that I wasnt the only one wanting more uptempo stuff,, so they have indeed added some.. Im not saying my email exclusively got it added,, but maybe a number of suggestions..

Otherwise,, the 70s on 7 and the 80s on 8 has been playing more classic dance as of late.

You know what? As much as I talked about XM, I think I may just end up having to get it anyway. Of course, this will be AFTER I move from Phoenix... I may also check into HD radio or whatever else I can find as well. This is just ridiculous... and I'll just leave it at that. :-X
