LOL everyone....I think honestly that if people rely on news...then watch the TV for it....but for radio purposes they should hire someone who could read the paper's headlines and major breaks overnight....and leave the news anchors to their business...b/c honeslty...I think that the TV news is a bunch of BS anymore...hell they stretch the truth more than the radio newscasters do...am I not right...

Maybe this is why you're doing internet radio?

I think it's good, not necessarily dire but good, to have news on your station in the morning. Especially from someone who can relate to different formats listeners like Ed could/can.

Well,

I am out of IT Radio for now anyway....but the point I was trying to make was...people like Ed are direly needed in this industry...the kind of people that can relate to any variety of audience whether it be the 18-25, 25-54, and the 54+ audience base....and they shouldn't rely on those people who work for a TV news station to do the news in the mornings....they should have people LIKE Ed.....NOT TV News people

I hope you get the point I am after here...

OK, maybe yesterday it was Lora S.... today it's Kimberly Van Scoy of WXII!

No maybe about it, definitely Lora when I listened then. And today at 7:00 and 7:30, she signed off "Lora Songster, WTQR News." She does sound a little like Kimberly, but...you know what happens when you assume.

Also, I can't see them toggling back and forth with someone on air, especially when they've just canned a long time anchor.

OK, allnews, yesterday it was definitely Kimberly Van Scoy (she signed off w/ her name and "WXII News"; today it's Lora S. signing off w/ her name and "WTQR News." I don't know what the heck they're thinking, but I AM paying close attention.

Interesting. And I didn't listen yesterday, so I could only comment on what I heard. We'll have to tune in tomorrow and see who's the news babe de jour!

Maybe THEY don't know what they're thinking...

I used to be the news director at WHISTLE 100. When Leanne Petty was out on maternity leave on sister station WMAG, I ran up-and-down the hallway to do news on MAG, as well. So, it doesn't surprise me that C-C is having Songster do the same with MAG and TQR. But there's more to the story. An insider at C-C Greensboro has said the plans are for WXII's news folks to do TQR's news! Guess they are just working out the logistics. But I know the WXII folks are saying...just something else for me to do!

the latest I'm hearing is that Lora Songster is now doing news for WMAG, WTQR AND the Buzzard!!! How long before CC just wears its people out? They have a PT GM operating out of Raleigh and TQR's PD is in Charlotte... it's just incredible and a lot of good people are being wasted.

Will somebody PLEASE give these people (CC) some direction??? So far this week, WTQR has alternated w/ Lora Songster of WMAG & Kimberly VanScoy from WXII-TV doing morning news. So who's it gonna be for goodness sake? And this morning I heard Lora read news on WVBZ, then Matt Pencola w/ sports, followed by traffic girl, back to Lora for weather with the out "now back to John Boy & Billy," but into a stopset.

Who's on first??
