Small-Market Rhythmic CHR's

102.7 The Vibe in Fort Smith, Arkansas sounds horrible. They still play old songs like "Drop It Like Its Hot" and "Party Like A Rock Star" like they are current hits. The station pretty much just sounds like an iPod stuffed with Top 40 rhythmic hits from the past decade on random rotation.

I know the current PD of that station. He took it over a couple years ago when the PD back then was let go during budget cuts. That PD wasn't updating the music every week among other things so it's no doubt that was probably the case. I reached out to him today to discuss other things and recalled this thread and asked him about those songs. He said he hasn't play them in a very long time.

JJ Ryan? He's also PD of Power 1057. Cumulus is just recurrent/gold-leaning in general. He has no real control of that station. It's all Jan Jefferies. He sends him a suggested list of music to add/drop each week. The Cumulus PD's are sheep.

I was actually back in Fort Smith over the Christmas holiday and listened to 102.7 the Vibe. It sounded much more current than it previously did (heard mostly songs from 2009-today, though there still was a heavy amount of songs from the early 2000s). Its definitely a step in the right direction. KISR still sounds better though. Being that KISR is entirely locally owned, they can cover much of the rhythmic playlist that most CHRs won't touch while not neglecting rock.

Is Jan Jefferies In control of Urbans too? WEAS E93 in Savannah sounds pretty good here.

Maurice DeVoe is in charge of the Urbans and I believe Rhythmics too.
