I totally disagree with the notion that smooth jazz is an "old geezer's" 55+ format. The problem that I have experienced, with SJ and with other formats in today's radio environment, is that green AE's, young Brittany, or Tiffany, or Josh from sales, rarely listen to the station, and have no earthly clue on how to market same.
Frankly, the alcoholic, womanizing, cadillac driving, sleazy "Herb Tarlek" sales guys of the past could out sell the entire sales office at a station today... but then again, those guys had a much better product to sell...
Here's a question: What's going to happen when radio is so generally lousy, that younger demos have abandoned it altogether, and older demos (in diminishing numbers) is all we have left?
