I have heard the same thing that 5515 is saying from someone at the station but that person also went on to say that P&K were just pissy and wanted more $$$$ for a show with sinking ratings. They were also said to be whorable off air. With rules such as dont look or speak to us. There increasing DIVA ish attitude is what caused sybil to leave. That and the fact she far outgrew the show. It comes down to P&K were to big for there britches and the new show just sucks it shows what lack of on air talent they have. I say they dont last 18 months on the bone. As much as it pains me to say this Cyndi and Robert were a better show. It is also obvious the only thing that held the show together was erics producing.

In defence of 5515 its not like he can say my name is Bob Smith and I am a sales person he has to keep hush hush.

Are you slow? I spilled it. I said that they got irritated at something Russ said on air, felt it violated their contract, walked out, and tried to sue. Can't put it more simply than that. I don't know what was said. I don't know what became of their attempt to sue. I just know what happened.

What did Russ say? If he said it on the air, it isn't exactly privileged information, so you can share with the class. Russ has said ALL KINDS of hateful stuff about P&K for YEARS, so what was it that finally brought the situation to a head? Stop dancing around this question...

I can't speak of P&K's personalities off the air. What I can say is that their on-air chemistry and banter is what I tuned in for in the first place, and their new show is even better without Eric's presence. The show seems to be finding its groove despite the music distractions. Their old advertisers have followed them to the Bone. There is a sizable body of listeners who have expressed a desire to have P&K back on the air in this market, and contrary to the prediction of some posters here that has come to pass. Even Sybil signed up on the "Where Are P&K" MySpace page.

Only time will tell if the new show works on the Bone but I can say it is the only reason I've had to tune to the station, and their departure from 105.3 is the reason I no longer listen to that station.

Ahem... Mr Albert19x - I have no reason to make something like that up. I have nothing to gain. I don't have some sort of 'proof' of how it all went down. Do you think there was a memo that went out saying what happened? You're quick. Believe what you want. I know how it went down and so do others who are around. mrchris obviously does as well because he pretty much nailed it. I don't know about them asking for more money, but it wouldn't surprise me. Their egos were huge. Everything he said about Sybil, Eric, their diva attitudes, etc... is right on target. Like I said, believe what you want if it makes you feel better. No sweat off my back. Your appreciation of the crap they spew on the air speaks wonders about what you know anyway. Sorry, but I don't think the average P&K listener is of the most intelligent sort... unless intelligence equals American Idol updates, superficiality, the thought that prescription drugs are ok to swallow in mass because they are legal, and random complaining about how life is tough on them. Enjoy the show. It won't last.

Lumpy - Like I said, I don't know what Russ said on the air. I heard him say lots of things. They felt it was something that violated their contract, hence the legal attempt.

Pugs and Kelly are not top 5 market talent. They got their job in Dallas because they sued CBS in Chicago when another jock played a recorded conversation of them on the air and they weren't aware they were being recorded. Part of their settlement was a show in Dallas. That right there shows that they are hacks. Diva hacks. As mrchris said, they won't last 18 months on the air. Anyone who listens to their show can tell that. The Bone obviously thought that by them bringing the exact same show to that station, they would bring all the 105.3 listeners. Not a smart move. Their show was tanking in the ratings. Anyone who listens to Russ is not going to leave to go catch the fabulous P&K show. And I wouldn't be surprised if their leaving was partially because they knew they were going to be out the door anyway if their show didn't get better.

And as far as Russ goes, he may have an ego and you may not enjoy his show... but the masses disagree with you. And unlike P&K, at least he has a reason to have a bit of an ego. He built what he has... he didn't sue someone to get it.

As for their superficiality, damn straight they're superficial. That's a big reason why I tune in. If I want expert opinion and in-depth analysis of the news of the day I tune in to KERA, which I do most of the time. If I want witty casual conversation by people who are as befuddled by the world as I am then I listen to P&K. If I place a high value on porn star interviews, Pro Wrestling, MMA and Girls Gone Wild I tune in to Big Dick Hunter.

I'm a fairly intelligent guy. Intelligent enough to know I can relay insider information without exposing my real life identity. Intelligent enough to know that good radio doesn't have to rely on 75 different fart noises in my sound effects file.

Last time I looked, KLLI had dropped out of the top 15 in P25-54. And IIRC, Russ himself had dropped out of the top 10 P25-54, while the Hardline, his direct competitor in 'guy talk' is #1 Men 25-54 AND Persons 25-54.

It does seem Russ has fallen a lot.

I bet CBS is loving cutting him his big paychecks with his dwindling ratings and potential felony status.

I guess all his worrying over the years might actually come true finally.

I know why I stopped listening... It seems it is a common reason. I was a daily listener for years, but it is impossible to listen any more, at least for me.

And that is funny because other personalities whom I have listened to and left and come back to like Howard Stern and others, I have always found them listenable upon return.

I think when Eddie left the show lost a massive amount of structure. Now it is just one big cluster-f with no real talent to go along with russ to make the show happen. Chloe, JD, Trey, completely devoid of talent. Everett is okay in small doses and is fine.. but the rest of them have such a big bag of nothing that the show has sunk below rescue level. Even the old Dan had some modicum of talent compared to this bunch.

I suspect Russ is now coming with in the reach of having to actually listen to suits who want to make changes. Wouldn't be surprised once his legal situation is finished that you find his staff trimmed down and a woman added to take the place of say JD.

It will happen for a few reasons. One it is a formula that radio execs are comfortable with. Two, every day he does not hit his female co-host is one more chance to convince the audience he is not a massive abusing tool.

I think most of Russ' neurosis' are real, and as such make it impossible for him to reinvent himself. I see a slow decline until like I said the suits jump in, modify things and then we see the whole thing resting on the bottom. Depending on how much money his fiance gets out of this situation, he should be able to retire in comfort.

So does Gavin know you are posting on here? I have pretty much stoped listening to Live all together since B&S are already getting old, but I love Eric, so i am trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. Thankfully BDH has podcasts so I dont have to listen at night. But I still think Gavin is in charge there and wouldnt like that someone is posting station stuff, even if you don't give a name. You still give an IP address or something to that effect that can track where you are doing this. Methinks someone has already forwarded this to him.

And I love P&K, I have already been on it once, even though it is pulling teeth with their geriatric sounding young phone screener. I wish the phone situation was better, they seem to not do many call drivers because of it, and also because of time. They cannot get into anything when they have to break to play Creed, STP, Foo Fighers or 3 Doors Down for the 10th time of the day. It is like that David Cross bit. "We have the best new alternative rock, STAIND! POD! LINKIN PARK!" It is ridiculous. I just listen to my iPod while they are playing that crap so I can listen to something of value. Hell, even a wierd out there band like Say Anything rocks harder than 3 Doors Down.

Since not one single person can say what Russ said on air that so angered P&K that after years of him talking trash about them they quit, I am going to assume that the "RM said something to make them explode and quit" theory is BS. Had something been said on air, someone would of heard it and reported it on here or elsewhere.

I started listening to 105.3 to listen to Russ....but it didn't take long to get tired of his same ole same ole.
I find it hard to believe that people want to listen to the same routine over and over...and Lord help you if Russ thinks he did something funny and runs the tape over and over for hours
P&K leaving and Russ's true self coming out in his arrest, was enough to send me running away from the station...but Gavin is the true culprit of the problems. He should have been fired long ago, but to keep him after these fiascos shows upper management could care less about the station..or already has plans and is just letting time take its natural course.

You nailed it, especially the part about Russ playing tapes over and over and over again. That and the endless explosions. I see the P & K detractors criticizing them for not being talented. Since when does Russ do anything original anymore? That's why I stopped listening, and I was a devoted listener for years. It just got old. And then playing "Week in Review" for Everett on Fridays. They might as well take Fridays off and just play "Best Of." As far as P & K on the Bone, they've only done 8 shows and they've never done music radio before. It's going to take them a while to get their rhythm. If it doesn't work out it doesn't work out. Maybe then they'll go back to talk radio where they fit better anyway.
