KGNC Is closer, but just didnt work out that way. :)

I see; sounds like the angle of the skywave coming into play. I haven't been west of D/FW in quite a while, so I wasn't sure about KGNC. On the other hand, here a little west of Tyler, on 710 I get KEEL from Shreveport during the day but they virtually disappear at night so it sounds like a similar situation.

Cyberdad, i could have been hearing it on 1030, not sure. 1210 here now is a mixture of country radio and a talk program on 1210. I think I am getting WPHT (talking about michael smerconish I think) with country under it.

There's a 1030 in Spanish out of Memphis. Only 1kw, but it is aimed in your direction, so it might have been that one instead of Mexico City. The Memphis 1030 is 50kw days, so there's always the chance they may have "forgotten" to power down, but I doubt that was the case. I never here them here northwest of Chicago, so I think they're pretty good about staying within the rules.

As for 1210, Smerconish works at WPHT, so I agree that's what you heard. The 1210 out of Oklahoma (Panhandle IIRC) gets out pretty well, so I also agree that was probably the country station you heard. I hear them fairly regularly on business trips to the West Coast.

Someone asked about WSCR. As WMAQ, I used to get that quite regularly in the Dallas area, but that was before KSKY went fulltime and before Cuba installed a blowtorch on the channel.

I agree and it seems that WBBM is the most reliable Chicago signal in this part of Texas (southeast of Dallas). But even so it's not what it used to be, with WGN a poor second, followed by WSCR (Cuban interference and all) and in last place it's the pitiful WLS signal. WMVP, of course, is really out of the equation due to its pattern and the usual resident on 1000, Mexico City's "Radio Mil," XEOY.

This morning yes.. I can usually get WBBM 780 a fair amount of the time, WGN a fair amount and WSCR sometimes. Our local KSKY in Dallas still has a decent signal at night but with the radio pointed in the right direction WSCR can be heard. WBBM sometimes is a stretch too with local blowtorch 820 WBAP, but it usually works as well.

PS: I assume the cubs and sox aren't having good starts to the season from what I'm hearing.

When I lived in Houston, WBBM always was the most reliable signal, followed by the same order as mentioned above. Listeners up toward Dallas get those signals FAR better than down around Houston, though ... it's as if that area is just too far south to get decent Midwest DX other than KMOX and sometimes WLW.
Cyberdad mentioned the Cuban on 670 earlier ... it's been a pest even this far north (I am in Ohio, where I grew up) for 15 years. It doesn't blot out WSCR up here like it did during the Bulls' glory years, but it still is audible and interferes with Les Grobstein when I listen at night.

The Sox are having lots of pitching problems so far.

Don't forget to write/email the more unusual stations you receive. You might get a reception verification letter in return. I'll see if I can dig one up for you, but it might be easier to search for one online, or to search for QSL cards online.

I see you've already logged KCMO, from Kansas City, where I live. I've logged several of your Dallas-area stations over the years, including the DFW airport TIS in the 1600s.
