So is KLIF shifting to news?

I just don't get the fascination KLIF has with Chris Krok. It's unlistenable to me. He sounds like a nervous wreck- and sends that vibe through the radio to me until I'm anxious to the point I can't change my radio quick enough. Seems like a nice enough guy, but when did it become acceptable to learn how to do radio in a major market?

I'm reminded of that song by the Ojays "MONEY, MONEY, MONEY," MONEY!
Krok, er, Talk is cheap. Apparently he's cheaper that Laura's barter spots.
"Cumulus, the Power of Saving Cash!" no, wait, that's not how it's supposed to go...

Are you getting the picture?

Through the years the DFW Market has, for the most part, been unresponsive to anything below 820 AM or above 1190 AM. KBOX did it for a short time but was never able to crack the bubble with either rock or country for very long.

Millions upon millions of dollars have been spent on 570, 620, 660, 730, 1270, 1310 and others but for only limited and short time gain. The current exception is 1310. Much of the same can be said for FM. Wouldn't one like to have all the money spend on the purchase and operations for all stations below 96.3 and above 106.1?

It was good to listen to this morning. Also they are using ABC News again. Bye Bye Fox News Radio.

When is the morning news block on? I'm streaming the station now and am hearing the Scott Wilder Show at 9:40 a.m.
Thread is about KLIF/570. You're listening to 1190 (former KLIF)

That brings unclepudd's comment to mind. In my mind, at least, KLIF should be on 1190. It's always seemed like something was out of place to hear 570 KLIF. But, I grew up hearing music on "The Mighty 1190" KLIF. Wonder if younger people or those more recent to DFW make that connection.

The main reason Susquehanna purchased 570 was for the night time coverage. 1190 could hardly be heard in the Arlington studios at night.

I forgot the legendary KLIF call letters moved over to 570 AM several years ago.

Yes, because of the of the 570 nighttime coverage, it makes more sense for 570 to shift to all
news then 1190.

Speaking of KLIF 570 and 1190,
why not restore BOTH Heritage calls back to their proper Frequencies...

KLIF calls go back to 1190,
WFAA calls Return to 570.

With 570 running ABC news now, maybe they could strike a deal with Belo.

News 570 WFAA.

Of Course, WFAA KLIF and KFXR are ALL owned by different companies.

I actually like the greater news presence on KLIF. Though, I think it needs more work. KRLD sucks, especially during the evenings when their news coverage is from a guy who has trouble presenting a simple traffic report. They might as well do away with Dave Ramsey as long as they give him the notice in time, and air a news block.

I want to see them go the KOMO 1000 and 97.7 route in Seattle.

This didn't make sense at first, but now it's clear:
KLIF takes the ABC top of the hour news, to keep it from going to a competetor.
KLIF takes a couple of tenths from KRLD, maybe keeping KRLD from passing 820.
820 eliminates a conservative talk competetor, possibly picking up a couple of tenths.
Existing resources are leveraged across another outlet.
Building a strong station/brand is not a priority, nor is serving the community, but at least Cumulus still has another place to park pay-per-response and pay for play programming.
