So, when does 94 'YSP flip to Top 40?

Onyx said:
I hope your prediction is correct about this Monday. Some sort of change is long overdue, and it's exhausting to think that YSP is still lurching along with The 'duce...

Need I remind everyone that awhile ago, CBS registered domains like amp941.com or 941ampradio.com...

It's simple: Keep the Eagles games where they are. Change the sound of the station to Active Rock (works better with football than Alternative) and go heavy on the Korn, Slipknot, System Of A Down, Chevelle, Mudvayne, etc. while dropping the lighter rock acts. Consider changing many of the personalities at the station to fit the new audience you're trying to target. And finally ... drop the 'Duce!

CBS flipped 94.7 The Arrow/The Globe WTGB Active Rock/AlterActive Rock/ClassicActiveModernIndieAAA to 94.7FreshFM with a format geared(or not geared) to women and teen girls. Its a mix of AAA,Alternative hits and CHR. The website looks like a Tampax box....not kidding.

A well programmed CHR with in your face , fun imaging could work....If done right. It would need to find a niche to stand out over Q102 and Wired 96.5....maybe lean dance or open up the playlist with a little less repitition or a more music in the morning approach with no standard morning show in place. Q102 has been a little stale for quite a while and other than the morning show Wired probably has the worst sounding jocks in Philly, how on earth did Kannon get a drive time position he is unlistenable, so maybe if "AMP" comes in with a fresh sound, expanded playlist and some hot DJs who knows..

all you can say is

monday WYSP is flipping

oh well lookie here WYSP is still on the air some people are full of bull

It's a clone of their Fresh 102.7 in NYC. And it's not some hybrid format. It's a Hot AC with a very female tilt that tries to do the "we're not as old as that other AC in town" thing, all while playing pretty much all the same music.

Fresh is NYC's and D.C.'s third AC (NY had 106.7 and 95.5, D.C. had 97.1 and 107.3). Anyone think Philly needs a third? The second one is in the ratings toilet.

'YSP is going to flip. I THINK it's going to be in August/September timeframe.... I don't KNOW... but I'm 99% sure it's going to flip... (can never be 100% sure... even if you worked at the station you never can tell)...

After listening to them a bit today, I don't think its gonna happen, they seem content and satisfied with the stale top 50 rock hits and the dismal ratings, I don't think they are going anywhere....Danny, the Eagles and the Stale 50 are here to stay at least until 2010. I would love to see them go Full Blown Alternative, ala Alt Nation on Sirius/XM but it would never happen makes too much sense....

maybe they're just going to sell the signal. CBS already has two top-rated stations in KYW news radio and oldies 98. they should just throw The 'duce out with the bathwater and focus on what's working, unless maybe they're hoping for a bailout. ... ;D

They are not selling 94.1. A source tells me that they are installing a crazy amount of new equipment used for automation. The source believes that it is going towards CHR. This is what I am basing my opinions on... but as you and I both know, things change in this industry like the wind... hell, the powers at 'YSP might read this post and decide that their cover has been blown and change direction... who knows...

Being curious and checking them out more, I have noticed a more broader playlist and titles I have not heard them play....could they be reading this board or just throwing everyone off.....Just my opinion...but they sound a little better music wise...

Just before 94.7 WTGB flipped they started sounding alot better according to posts on another radio site. I can't get the signal here so I can't swear to it but everyone was saying that if they sounded like that all along the ratings would have been far better. Despite everyones approval they still flipped to the Fresh format. This probably means nothing since CBS doesn't seem to follow logic. It's almost as if they don't WANT to have a successful station in ANY format, market or demo. WHFS is STILL missing while DC and Baltimore scream for a real alternative format. Makes no sense.

Ratings would have been better amongst people who frequent radio sites. We listen to radio stations differently than most people do. WTGB knew the ax was coming. It was officially announced a week or two in advance. After that, they were just doing whatever the hell they wanted. Maybe that would work, maybe it wouldn't.

HFS is coming back to 94.7 HD-2 if that counts.

I read about that right after posting here yesterday. Well IF you have HD radio and are in the WTGB signal area it does. TGB is drowned out by 94.7 WDSD where I am. You're right about the radio diehards,I guess radio isn't FOR people who love radio.
