So when is 640 Flipping to Sports?

760's signal sucks. 790 might be going belly up. Not a bad move really, especially if they go to 50kw

There's no shortage of available talent for them to start with...Hank Goldberg, Steve Goldstein, Ed Kaplan, Defo. Get ESPN with Mike and Mike in the morning, fill in the rest of the day with the above and you're up and running. But then you run into the problem 790 did...can you make any money with it?

That sounds nice, but name a James Crystal station that has ever done anything? Remember how Live 85 was supposed to knock out WIOD? Gimme a break those guys over there are the biggest joke in radio. They don't even know how to position themsleves. They're Palm Beach stations that want Miami dollars & it doesn't work that way. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Carl Foster pops up again ::)

Morning drive and afternoon drive local. Run syndicated the rest of the day. Put your top talent in peak time. (They already have Rome on 640 from 12n-3pm)

It does, but Radio-Locator's maps are predicted patterns, and the more directional the lesser the accuracy. Take a look at this pattern of WGST:

http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WGST&service=AM&status=L&hours=D

It looks a little like this pattern from WSB:

http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=WSB&service=AM&status=L&hours=U

Now having lived in Georgia and driven to all four corners of the state, WGST's pattern does not go as far as that map makes it look. Even just outside the red zone the static starts to get annoying. WSB on the other hand I was able to hear clearly outside the purple zone with minimal static.

They've had that CP for years... I'm suprised they still have it!
Back when they were that bizarre adult standards format, it was nice to hear them here in Naples. Until Fidel turned on his megawatt jammer.
The predicted coverage would be most of South and Southwest Florida.

No need to worry about this station making any headway in the sports biz. As long as George Johns is in the building, it will never get anywhere.

Well I would say it is official....Just Saw a listing on All Access for a job at a James Crystal Sports Station in south florida

So does anyone know when and what they are going to be called?

Perhaps 640 can do for Sports Talk what 850 has done for News Talk.

Hey Guys and Gals:

Just saw on all access that FOX sports radio is adding stations on March 3rd and one of them is WMEN!!!
Guess that makes it official or do you think it will add sports programming on Weekends only like they do on KSFN in Las Vegas.

T.J.

Here's the deal. Miami-Fort Lauderdale is getting TWO new sports stations that will be on the air by Monday. 1st will flip over the weekend. The other, Monday morning.

Still that rumor going around that Lincoln Financial will be getting out of the sports biz on 790?

Here it is.
