So when is 640 Flipping to Sports?

You know what's SO funny? ANYONE on here who thinks JCR is doing something right is called an insider, lackey or some other nasty name. I guess you people are HUGE Clear Channel fans, huh? Yeah, they do it right all the time. LOL.

If you ask me, it's CC, CBS, Cox and the other big companies that messed up this business and killed both jobs and competition. If I want to hear music, I'll listen to my ipod, not come voicetracked station that plays the same 250 tunes from a jock that can't pronounce the names of the local towns because he lives 1000 miles away. If I want news, I'll check CNN or MSNBC on my computer, not some so-called news radio station that gives me a little piece of a story than directs me to their website that doesn't have nearly enough news as the other 2 I mentioned. If I want talk, I'll download a podcast so I can listen to the host I want from start to finish, when I want it, just like Tivo on my TV.

Satellite doesn't really figure in much. Not everyone wants to pay for it. Plus, they are starting to squeeze in commercials every so often on their music channels. Given everything above, who needs it? XM is going under anyway.

Radio is OVER. It's for old people. Ask a 16 year old what radio station he/she listens to. See if they even know what AM is.

Actually, I agree with you in principal on most of what you stated. But when you say I am a huge Clear Channel fan, you could not be more askew. James Crystal has never had a winner and never will under the current management regime. What a waste of two good signals (640 & 850).

Please answer this question....when you say "Radio is OVER. It's for old people", what's your definition of "old people" and moreover may I ask how old you are please? Please understand this is not a personal attcak on you. As a matter of fact, like you, I have an iPod, satellite radio, HDTV and just about every hi-tech toy that's currently available, but I still listen to radio....does that make me "old"?

Radio has certainly been denegrated by the infiltration of the big corporate idiots/suits trying to run all of their stations on the cheap. That's why if the management (and I use that term extremely loosely in this reference) of James Crystal had half an active brain cell, then they would realize that there is a golden opportunity to return to the basics (serving the LOCAL community with live & local programming) and make a lot of money. I realize this would require a financial committment to make this happen, but a company has to invest money to make money. Basic premise in any successful business ... "find a need and fill it"....what a concept!!! Problem is JCR has mismanaged their cluster of stations so badly they have no money to make money with. All they are doing now is bailing water out of their rapidly sinking ships......maybe the Coast Guard should be called instead of the FCC-LOL!!!!!

Like I said in an earlier post, don't blink or you will miss James Crystal's current format flip fiasco because their formats will change once again within 12 months.

If you read any of my posts you probably couldn't get any more anti Clear Channel. Hell at least CC, Beasley & LF get it right once in a while. JCR is a joke and their track record in this market proves it. i'm done with hsi thread. No need to go in circles over something so insignificant.

SportDotCom.....Well put!!! We're on the same page. You are spot-on (as the British would say). When the dust settles at the end of the day, its numbers (ratings & revenue) that count and James Crystal has never had either.

Didnt they own WRMF when it was HUGE back in the day? In fact, I think that's how the owner made a huge chunk of his money. It sold for something like $70M, which was unheard of for a WPB station.
