So who picks up Imus?

If anything, Imus would be on 1050 replacing Boortz and the money shows, which could move up to replace Masters. Phil Boyce is shooting down rumors of Imus replacing people all over these boards.

No - they don't give them up for an east-coast radio program that's never been a real success outside New York (and perhaps Boston). Until his "ho" comment, most Americans had no idea who Don Imus was unless they happened to stumble onto the MSNBC simulcast - and that show ran a distance behind the morning television competition.

Not to say he doesn't have a loyal following; but not in the significant numbers needed to be a factor outside the northeast.

The Imus Show is perfect for the throw-away (or "2nd") talk station in a cluster....in Albuquerque its likely 1050 - and I'd almost bet that Citadel places the show there. They need to clearance for advertisers once it goes national.

No. Show sucks, only on in Artesia, I believe. Those are the clearances he gets except for Salem's freebies.

Actually I would never accept a job with ABC/Citadel for the ideological factors that I've cited. KKOB didn't even bother to call my references who happen to big name radio personalities. So much for being an EOE EMPLOYER

Neither would I. In the radio biz, obviously one's own moral compass dictates whether they would apply or accept a certain job or not, and I've been faced with this decision many times.

Yesterday, Don Imus, on his new and improved 'Imus in the Morning Show, said the following...
"looks like we're going back on 610 The Sports Animal in Albuquerque..."

he didn't say when, though...

And the state of regurgitated radio has become complete at Citadel once again! Imus pulls no numbers for them before he gets canned, they put a local show on who is the PD and he pulls no numbers, so they go back to the original no numbers guy! ;D Great work!

Wait a minute, everyone - a station's real ratings are revenue and net income, and the Imus show performed nicely for Citadel here. Imus records commercials for local clients, they love it, revenue comes in. Gotta get over the numbers and look at who and what pulls revenue.

How strong is the signal from KTBL? It's official...KTBL is Imus' new Albuquerque radio home.

KTBL signal is nothing great during the day and at night it gets clobbered by the big boy on 1050 out of Monterrey, MX with so much interference that at times it can be practically unlistenable within city limits. Citadel finally has a website for the station, 1050talk.com that parallels the KKOB site.

Not to mention the poor location of the 1050 transmitter site, miles south of town, on the hill by the landfill and vicious wolf dogs. :-[

I'll have to send my pictures of those towers to Scott Fybush for his next calendar, with Albuquerque and the Sandias in the distance. LOL

Well, at least the signal is strongly directional, compensating for the ground conductivity and distance issues. Otherwise, NOBODY would get the signal within city limits at night!

1050 does make it to Santa Fe during the day.

Interesting that KCAA 1050 in Riverside, CA is now 24/7, and has an additional CP.
