"Solid Gold Jukebox" and Rick Knight Gone from Cool 92.9

I was listening to the "Solid Gold Jukebox" this week that Rick Knight is no longer on WBPM's "Cool 92.9". :( Rick will still be heard on Lite-FM Saturday nights with Claire Channel playing classic dance KTU-style music. Rick does not belong on 92.9 when he was on the last station on board. He was a terrible jock and does his phase when he was stole from Allan Sniffen at the end of his "Board Reflections" show. Allan Sniffen who does the NYRMB and "Board Reflections" stole the show from Rick Knight.

I'm so upset to see Rick Knight go. This is what happens if Pamal will make way for a format flip.

Also gone from that station was the "Solid Gold Jukebox". It's now gone, they will move to WKIP next Friday. "Solid Gold Jukebox" has been on 92.9 for four years. Rick McCaffery and Gary Lee Schwartz were the best. That show was been heard on other stations in the past like WCZX (Oldies 97.7 and "Mix 97") and WBPM (Cool 94.3 and Cool 92.9).

It's the end of an era. Rick McCaffery will do his morning show for the last time this Wednesday.

I'm so sad to see the show go. WKNY will have an oldies fix on Saturday afternoons as well as the doo-wop show. WKNY is a weaker station in Kingston, NY and it does not come into Poughkeepsie at all. Warren Lawrence is playing the oldies every Saturday. By the way, if you are listening to 92.9 before the format flip will take place either Wednesday or Thursday, WZCR's "Cruisin' 93.5" is going to be a big winner. We don't want two stations on these frequencies. 92.9 and 93.5 is 6kw up and 6kw down. Maybe "Cruisin'" will be a winner. I can't get 93.5 from Hudson, NY into Kingston, because the station splattered by "Star 93.3". It doesn't reach that signal at all.

And thoughts about these shows gone from 92.9?

I'm having trouble figuring out what you posted.

You say Rick Knight is a terrible jock, then you say you're upset about him being fired.

??? ::)

I'm not being rude Kevin, Rick Knight left at 92.9 yesterday, he wasn't being fired. He is now on Lite-FM on Saturday nights with Claire Channel as "Studio 92/98".

As I said last night that the "Solid Gold Jukebox" is moving to WKIP next Friday. Rick McCaffery is still hosting his morning show for three more days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I posted that aircheck of the "Doo-Wop Cruise" when it was on 92.9 last night. It was the last show before it moved to AM.

I hope Wednesday morning, I will record Rick McCaffery's last morning show and probably a format flip from oldies to something else. Will have to wait and see what happens. Cool 92.9 will still be playing oldies until the format change. Only got 4 days left. I hope WABC would do better with Mark Simone and the Saturday Night Oldies show playing the oldies that Cool 92.9 used to play. Will have to wait and see.

I think I lose brain cells every time I read one of Disney's posts.

I invented catchphrases, Robin. Remember, you don't happen to make it, you make it happen, right, Robin? HOO HOO!

Yep! That's what Allan Sniffen would say if Rick Knight copied it from him. :D

Rick Knight Not Out at Cool 92.9

Does anyone know that Rick Knight quit? Not! He's still on Cool 92.9 and he's going to be here for two more days. Hopefully by either by Tuesday or Wednesday, Rick will still be on Lite-FM with Claire Channel to do the Saturday night dance show "Studio 92/98". Don't worry, will have two more days to go before he's gone. ;)

In the middletown paper this morning it states that the so called jocks at uncool 92.9 were told that their services will not be needed. Disney, what part of this don't u understand. They have been fired. On the outside looking in. **itcanned. It's over. Fat lady is singing. ???

With Randy Turnip as PD, the new WBPM might actually be worse. Listening to his show used to be more painful than Root canal without novocaine. :'(

Wow, what animosity...Did he turn you down as a part-timer? Actually I can think of many more painful things...Coop on PDH, Joe Daily on Lite FM, Miller rambling on over nothing at Mix, Delilah's sob stories, John Tesh's know it soap box rants...So, I seriously think if listening to Turner is more painful to you than a root canal w/out novocaine, you haven't really been listening to much Hudson Valley radio and it sounds more like a personal problem.

The good news is, although format tweaks are inevitable, perhaps cutting off some of the older music; PAMAL BROADCASTING seems to be sticking with the same basic format. I hope they keep Tom Kent, his show is outstanding and the main reason I listen to WBPM. As for the WBPM jocks, while Rick McCaffery is the local dean of oldies. The rest of them are quite forgettable.

92.9 Heavy on 60's very light on Commercials

I have been listening to WBPM cool 92.9 more than usual today. The play list has been very heavy with 60's music, presumably which we won't hear anymore after tomorrow. For someone like me who grew up in the 60's this has been enjoyable; a nice way to go out. Also they are doing it almost commercial free.
The jocks loosing their jobs has been mentioned here. While, they weren't the best in the world, they aren't the worst either. Instead of showing them the door Cheap Channel should put them on star 93.3, WBWZ which runs jock less except during drive time. Rick Knight has been an overworked staple at the Poughkeepsie group for years. I believe the same applies to WPKF Kiss 96.1: no air personalities except during drive time. But then again if they did that they wouldn't be called Cheap Channel.
