I was listening to the "Solid Gold Jukebox" this week that Rick Knight is no longer on WBPM's "Cool 92.9".
Rick will still be heard on Lite-FM Saturday nights with Claire Channel playing classic dance KTU-style music. Rick does not belong on 92.9 when he was on the last station on board. He was a terrible jock and does his phase when he was stole from Allan Sniffen at the end of his "Board Reflections" show. Allan Sniffen who does the NYRMB and "Board Reflections" stole the show from Rick Knight.
I'm so upset to see Rick Knight go. This is what happens if Pamal will make way for a format flip.
Also gone from that station was the "Solid Gold Jukebox". It's now gone, they will move to WKIP next Friday. "Solid Gold Jukebox" has been on 92.9 for four years. Rick McCaffery and Gary Lee Schwartz were the best. That show was been heard on other stations in the past like WCZX (Oldies 97.7 and "Mix 97") and WBPM (Cool 94.3 and Cool 92.9).
It's the end of an era. Rick McCaffery will do his morning show for the last time this Wednesday.
I'm so sad to see the show go. WKNY will have an oldies fix on Saturday afternoons as well as the doo-wop show. WKNY is a weaker station in Kingston, NY and it does not come into Poughkeepsie at all. Warren Lawrence is playing the oldies every Saturday. By the way, if you are listening to 92.9 before the format flip will take place either Wednesday or Thursday, WZCR's "Cruisin' 93.5" is going to be a big winner. We don't want two stations on these frequencies. 92.9 and 93.5 is 6kw up and 6kw down. Maybe "Cruisin'" will be a winner. I can't get 93.5 from Hudson, NY into Kingston, because the station splattered by "Star 93.3". It doesn't reach that signal at all.
And thoughts about these shows gone from 92.9?
