Some Fox affiliates say "No" to "Osbournes: Reloaded"

WITI is owned by Local TV, not Raycom...

Thanks for pointing it out Trip.

Either of the two things could have happened:

1) WITI made its decision after the Fox publicist made his statement; or

2) The Fox publicist was unaware of WITI's decision at the time he issued the statement.

I hereby nominate WITI for Hypocrites of the Year!

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article starts:

Milwaukee's Fox affiliate, WITI-TV (Channel 6), says it's not airing the "Osbournes Reloaded" special that Fox scheduled for 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, after the weekly "American Idol" performance night.

Instead, Channel 6 is airing a news special "Dealing with Drugs."

Yes, Dealing with Drugs... something which, obviously, the Osbournes themselves have trouble doing...

How is that hypocritical? Rather than showing a program that glorifies drug use/culture somewhat, they are instead showing a program that takes a critical look at the ramifications of drug use.

I find it funny that WITI went out of their way to replace the Osbournes with that documentary. Clearly sending a message about what station management thinks of that family and their brand of "hi jinks." Honestly, I applaud them for making the tough choice not to show something that they find objectionable. From the previews that I have seen, it looks pretty trashy to me too.

My station (WDAF-TV) is airing a sports special at 8:25, starting the news five minutes early, and moving Osbournes to 1:00 in the morning. I don't know the specific content issue, but almost all FOX stations owned by Local TV LLC made the same decision.

Here in St. Louis.. this is what it says on their website

We have a programming note to tell you about: Wednesday night after American Idol, FOX2 will air a special edition of "The Cardinals Red Zone" at 8:25 p.m. "The Osbourne's Reloaded" which was to air at that time slot will air at 12:05 a.m. instead. FOX2 General Manager Spencer Koch released this statement about the change:

"The Osbourne special, which is scheduled to follow 'American Idol' contains content which in our view would be more appropriate for the late night time period. FOX2 will air the Osbourne's special at 12:05 AM Wednesday".

Isn't Fox 2 in St. Louis a Fox O&O? If so, that's a pretty big statement about many affiliates' feelings regarding this particular show.

KTVI is owned by Local TV.

Did any of the Sinclair-owned Fox affiliates air the Osbornes' special?

According to the cincinnati.com article in the first post, Dayton's WRGT, a Sinclair-controlled station, did.

Out of curiosity, did Raleigh's WRAZ air the Osbournes program? In the past, they pre-empted some of Fox's controvsersial programs, including "Who's Your Daddy?" and "Married by America".

WBRC/Birmingham (Raycom) did not air it. Instead, they had a severe weather awareness special in its place.

It's listed on their website programming schedule, but I didn't try to watch it, so I can't promise it was aired.

Don't forget "Temptation Island," but then again, for a year straight at the same time every morning they aired a Judge Mathis commercial where he said "What the he77 is he gonna do?" It came on every morning right after, was it "Home Improvement" on then at 8AM?

I watched The Osbournes Reloaded on KCPQ-TV last night and I don't see what the FOX affiliate fuss is about. Ozzy's skits were awesome. Wish I could say the same for the rest of his family, which drag down the show like an anchor. The marriage thing at the end of the show was pure cheese....

Jack Osbourne certainly got a Ryan Seacrest makeover from hair to shoes and lost a few pounds. He doesn't look as geeky now. Sharon is as catty as she's ever been and Kelly....well, you figure....

The best part of the show was Ozzy and Kelly working in fast food.......

Not the GREATEST show - leaves a LOT to be desired.......

WBRC/Birmingham, KTVI/St Louis, and WITI/Milwaukee are owned by Local TV, all of which are former Fox O&O's.

KDVR/Denver, WGHP/Greensboro, WDAF/Kansas City, WJW/Cleveland, and KSTU/Salt Lake City are also in the same boat. Did these stations air it? If not, then it was a corporate decision by the neocon Local TV (remember WHNT/Huntsville's censorship of "60 Minutes" regarding the incarcerated former Governor of Alabama?).

For those who did air it, how were the ratings?
