First of all that statement was not directed at you. But its kind of sad that you seem fit to agree with someone (HD) who does seem a little immature himself.
If I was immature then I apologize for that...it was born out of frustration.
My problem with him his avoidance of the real questions. I make no bones about that the fact that I was rude and a little overbearing (see my post about being maybe being censured). I'm willing to put up my email and real name....Even though I'm dxer you can see in my previous post its not really about the dxng...its about being put in a position not to be able to hear something I used to hear. For instance late yesterday there was an Eskip opening to South Flordia on FM...during the opening I realized that some stuff from the Bahamas was coming in on a few frequencies. So instead of cruising around for new catches I sat and listened to 107.1 because it was interesting.
Second...My point is that I don't like being told I have buy something new when what I have is not broken. Do you really think that a new technology will fix what is really broken...The pogramming???
Since you are a broadcast engineer you have a vested in interest in HD. I do know many engineers who are against it.
One more thing I would like to point out. You talk about FM taking a long time to catch on and that HD radio is similar. Well in the case of FM it was done on a new band. HD might have got a better reception if it was on a different part of the radio spectrum...IMHO. Even HD TV was moved mostly into UHF.
If you or HD want to continue with this discussion I'll be more than happy to via email (rather than cluttering up the board with my rant). My name is Keith...I live in Hingham MA...I'm a dxer and belong to many radio clubs. My email is
[email protected].
