Today I heard some one from Mega say something about English music. Could this mean that they are going back to their original format? And also El Norte 96.9 said that they are going to transmite a Soccer game on 1230 am. And not on 96.9.

Doesn't mean anything? If you could elaborate a bit on what they said then we could figure out what this means? Probably nothing.

Only they know their contract with ESPN Deportes. I'm surprised LBI or anyone hasn't looked into doing this format full time. David, or anyone with Spanish Radio knowledge, is ESPN Deportes full time doing good in other markets? Dallas? El Paso? Phoenix? Bakersfield? I haven't checked 920 KYST AM in a while, but I assume they are still broadcasting some of their sports programs and playing the Rockets in Spanish. How good can ESPN Deportes do here in Houston?

What he said was, La Mejor Musica en ingles. This means the best music in english. Thats all I know.

Dude 69.9 is not even in Houston this should be in the Texas section next check to see if the station is located in or can he heard in Houston

Yes there will be a soccer game on 1230 AM tonight. It will be on 1230 AM only. The scoccer game would normally be ran on 850 AM but there is a conflict due to the Rockets game that will be on 850 AM. This was an agreement with the Rockets.

Dude.... Your right!! 69.9 is not a Houston Station, but I don't think it is a Texas Station either. As a matter of fact I don't think it is a broadcast station anywhere in the US. (But I knew what you meant ;)) 96.9 KNTE however is, and it is considered to be in the Houston-Galveston market. I'm in Houston, I can hear the station.

I live and work in the Heights and I can listen to it on my truck all over the area but when I turn my home radio on I cant listen to it. It just dosent pick up. Maybe I need to put an outside antenna like most of you guys do. Oh wait a minute I have a question and I dont feel like starting a new subject for it so here goes. I purchased a Alpine brand hd ready radio. I didnt really pay attention when I purchased it, I didt realize it said hd ready, which means I would have to buy an additional reciever, well any ways...... My question is why cant I pick AM stations on it. And when I drive and step on the accelarator my radio makes an ugly noise on the speakers.

Well in that case, WOAI is also a Houston station since I can listen to it all over the place. (sarcasm)
When I can't listen to KNTE at home or at work, then that means It is not local. Trying effortlessly to catch the signal would be considered DXing. And trust me, it is not something every Houstonian would do just to listen to a station. That's why LBI has KQUE simulcast because KNTE is not local. If it was a local, then it wouldn't need KQUE. Maybe folks in the Southwest part of the metro can listen, but I shurely can't and trust me, I've done my shares of DXing.

Let me guess, another usual uninformed consumer?

Your wires may be pretty toasted from all the heat your vehicle's engine produces. Trust me, depending on what vehicle you have, replacing those wires may be the easiest thing to do or the hardest thing to do. I've changed a couple in my times. The job wasn't done perfectly, but it got the job done.

If your car is older than 6-7 years, then it is something with the wires, if the car is not that old, then you should check that who ever installed the stereo didn't leave the antenna loose or left the wire touching a metal. Some of these dumb car stereo installers have a thing for always leaving something wrong. What kind of car do you have, I may be able to help.

I have a 95 chevy S10
Never gone under the hood of a S10, but I can tell you by the age of your truck it MAY be your cable. This tends to happen with older models. Someone told me around here that by wrapping coil at the bottom of your antenna, it would improve AM, but I never tried it.

I have given up on Ford trucks because for some odd reason, every vehicle I've owned from them, the AM starts to fade with more use of the vehicle. GM tends to last longer, so this is why I keep saying it MAY be your cable. Heck, I used to own a 96 Chevrolet 1500 about 5 years ago with more than 230,000 miles, and AM was still good. Heck, it was way better than the 2004 F-150 I have right now.

OH OK THEN i NEED TO HAVE SOMEONE GIVE MY SYSTEM A LOOK. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS????

Stay away from Best Buy's around the Houston area.
I've had two bad incidents, and I've only been there twice, once for a car stereo replacement (which was free) and another for speaker replacements (I didn't feel like changing all 6 speakers)

But I recommend you go to a auto parts store. I've seen a great selection of antennas at Autozone. I also recommend going to NAPA. I think Autozone will give you detailed instructions on how to do it yourself. You can probably save yourself loads of money by doing that.

oh ok I work at Oreilly Auto Parts but we dont sell alot of Radio products

If we could back away from the auto shop class for just a minute, mrtexmex when did you hear about this change of languages with 101? I find that interesting considering that the numbers for Mega are pretty good now that they've went entirely Spanish. A majority of people seem to think that since "The Eagle" in Dallas went back to rock, KLOL will certainly follow suit, and I'm just not buying it.

No, i'm pretty shure it was nothing serious. They were probably playing something from Shakira or Jennifer Lopez in English and that slipped in.

I really don't see Rock coming back to Houston because of the screw up that Cumulus did. I think we are safe to say that the Legend is dead now. If Rock comes back, it will be at a new frequency and with a new slogan and not the Rock ###(frequency) that we all grew up listening to.

I heard this on January 4 2008, they didnt say nothing about changing formats all they said was ( and they said it in spanish) The best english and spanish music you will find here on mega 101.

As am I, hasn't 101 continuously played both Spanish and English music since the Mega incarnation began? Biggest difference being that the personalities now speak exclusively in Spanish? I mean, 101 still plays commercials in both languages, and that's not typically the case with other Spanish stations such as 98.5, 104.9, 102.9 etc.

Mega cut out all English songs around July. It is 100% Spanish music. Announcing is 100% Spanish, too.

Shows how much I listen to 101 these days. Thanks for the clarification, David. I have ran into an English commercial here and there on occasion while scanning by. Seems like that should be in line for change as well.
