Zeb - nice response. Points out some of the often overlooked expenses of ownership/operation other than equipment, staff and paying the light bill. Northern New England faces economic challenges not unlike the rest of the nation but let's face it, other than tourism, there's not much to generate revenues in, "The County," "The Kingdom," and whatever they call the great white north in New Hampshire. It's a struggle for small station owners to keep the doors open let alone stay on the cutting edge of technology. My hat's off to your group for doing a pretty good job at this.

As an aside - you appear to have two aspiring broadcasters involved in this thread. Ben and Icy. (There may be more. Dunno - I'm new here.) These two could represent the future of the industry. Which one would you rather have on your team? Keep the thoughtful questions coming, Ben. Best of luck to you - you're on the right track!

Nobody's trying to insult you. Yet. Believe me, you'll know when they're trying.

Look, part of me is just happy a younger guy wants to get into this business. That's not nearly as common as it was 20 years ago. But my point about asking questions and learning from the responses holds. Did you know about the points I made about streaming?

There are plenty of people in radio who don't keep in the forefront of their minds that it's a business. If you can really know that at all times and then make smart decisions from there you'll do fine.

And the itchy butt thing just related to a funny comment you made in the thread that got moved.
