Something great and wonderful is coming to 106.3

NOW it all makes perfect sense! And isn't it funny how INDY has gone silent now that he's been identified? Could be he's lost his on-line priveledges with his current employer. ;D

Well if you've seen Indy-duds latest numbers...he needs to get off of here and do something besides Bonnie, Billy and the others...Maybe CC could just let him go and he could spend all of his precious programming time talking about those pds who get numbers...carry on chaps! :-\

I'm pretty much a lurker don't post much but I like to read what all you guys have to say. Two things I wanna hit on right quick, just a few of the posts that caught my eye...

KentuckyMedia - "Adult CHR will crunch the upper end from WLKT. HOT will crunch the lower end of WLKT. Remember this, Clear Channel is extremely vulnerable right now. Anything is competition with them. "

Well obviously if you know Lexington radio you can tell that I'm probably biased but I've gotta be 100% honest I think "we" (HOT) put out a better product now than CC does as far as CHR. However I do have to give JB credit because as far as I know he's basically playing tennis over at the Cat (meaning it's been a one man sport for him lately) and he's doin a pretty damn good job at it.

As far as 106.3 goes to me it's going to be interesting to see a few things. 1. If the change and new feel does anything at all. But 2) Keep in mind they did flip or change it up in the dead middle of the book so IMO I don't think it will have much affect in the books, unless it's just a way to get the station name out there which if it is it's working because they are almost overplaying the new stuff they just got (which I do admit sounds decent)

And the other thing isn't a radio comment at all, just wanted to give Scott props on the Brian Regan reference, Regan is hilarious!

LOL! I was wondering if anyone would pick up my homage to Brian Regan. Thanks for noticing, man. Anybody can pull out a Carlin/Pryor/Murphy reference, but to use a line from a guy that can convey the humor in the excitement of television fishing shows(or lack thereof) and sprinkles on doughnuts, well, that takes talent...or boredom, not sure which.

I think what stinks is that there's more activity on this board here than there is on my WI board. :( . How can there be this much talk about a small town station that doesn't stream? Am I missing something here?

Or maybe he got a cleaning job that doesn't provide online services. (Hopefully!)

...I cracked up looking over earlier blogs and comments on this subject... It seems that once someone gets into a top fifty market, then all others mean nothing but, MINOR LEAGUES.. Buddy, you better thank you britches that you have strong regional small and medium markets doing what they do.. They pay well in Lexington, for a market their size (if you are in the right job and company).. I know many major market talents that gave up the ulcers at 40 plus to settle for good pay and family lifestyles in markets 100 to 203.... I think radio has evolved into some bad stuff, over the last few years, but in some shining areas of regional radio, it has become a place to: live, breathe, raise a family and enjoy life... Hey? The older I get, the more I long for that small "Mayberry Station" in a rural town, outside or on the edge of the metro.. See how it would do with an Eastlan Book in the key zip codes.... Life is too short to nag about devaluating anything under market 50.... Geez? I fill in at a station that has nicer facilities than any station in the midwest, with the execption of one major Chicago talker and St. Louis talker, I've seen (recently)... They treat us, as they do the full timers and I'll take an 18 plus share over the other 20 to 30 signals trying to bite a piece of our market's metro and adi....

I guess somebody has to crunch somebody....WLKT sounds pretty bad these days....A heritage station that has no heart and soul, and has completely thrown away it's heritage sound......WLTO sounds even worse....It is truly a poorly programmed station....How many old crappy recurrents can a station play? 106.3 sounds worse than it did before...That jingle is the most annoying, overplayed thing I might have ever heard...and I'll throw wmxl into the mix too....a 100,000 watt station that can't even provide a live morning show....Lexington radio is not good right now....
