John1 below brings up some excellent points. I did some more WBYN listening on the way home, and this whole thing just smells way too fishy:

1) First of all, John1 made an excellent point about WRDR in New Jersey doing a FOUR MONTH stunt meant merely to shake up the local leader, before flipping to the REAL format. As I said last night, the posts about the "flip" and the "wolf at the door" show that Nassau is having fun with us radio geeks. And we can't say we're not enjoying it. :) Back to the point at hand though, could this whole Frank thing be meant merely to confuse the heck outta Y-102, hoping they make some sorta reaction to this, then the "Wolf" with country hits on April 1?

2) Secondly, I find it very quirky (and fishy) that they keep saying "Reading's New # 1 station." "Reading this." "Reading that." How often have you heard any station from Reading say "Reading" so much? It just sounds weird. This is not Philadelphia. This is READING. WEEU goes by "The Voice of Berks County." WRFY doesn't even usually mention the area they cover. Why would a station with a signal like WBYN focus so heavily on the few square miles of Reading? Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it seems weird ... almost as if this is part of the joke to get the folks at Y-102 all charged up and nervous.

I dunno. Just my thoughts. In the meantime, as boring as the current format is to some of you, this whole flip is still fun. And I give it a 50/50 chance it'll get more fun in a few weeks. Just my opinion.
______________

Hey, a stunt for 3 weeks still constitutes a flip; so I'm still right. :)

But I digress.

I too agree that this definitely smells of fish. It almost seems "campy." Plus they're not surviving long with no commercials from 9 to noon every day.

How about this for a guess: 107.5 is just sitting back for a few weeks while Nassau gets 97.5 ready. On April 1 Nassau teams the two up for a coverage area covering two-thirds of eastern PA...

...or not. :)

I'm excited to see what's around the corner as well!
______________

Re: R&R - WBYN New PD Named

R&R reports today that Rick Musselman has named Randi Ellis as new PD at WBYN. She is MD/midday personality at 97.5 The Hawk in Trenton, and he also says a new WBYN staff will be hired. Haven't they already had months to hire a staff? According to the Hawk website she has a 6 hour weekday shift - is she live there or voicetracked? If VT she could easily work both stations for three weeks... OK, is Frank here to stay, or is this all just an elaborate stunt to throw off Y-102?

I think this is the real deal. Sounds like WODE when Nassau had them (not to imply that ODE sounds different since Nassau.) They haven't even been on 24 hours and I do believe I've heard some repeats, Fat Bottom Girls, American Pie. RFY sounds like rock hits/classics with an openmind, BYN sounds like worn out. I think the high heater under the chin that always leaves you falling back, looking around and wondering what the @#$%! was "the Wolf is at the door 4-1-06". Kinda like saying, "we're going with the Wolf, ooops just kiddin'. April Fools."
