Something Is Happening At 103.9 WKPE-FM

well folks down there will have to tell us what the new format is; up here WBCN blocks any chance of getting
WKPE (though on rare occasions I have picked it up in the car, with WBCN splatter). The classicrock1039.com
site is still up and unchanged but no doubt once the format is launched people who go there will
be re-directed to a new site

(kind of like what happened when Star 93.7 became Mike)

Cape 104.......the Cape's hit music station.........sounds like the same format as COD.

i was totally wrong about my guesses, but I absolutely get it. Its a terrific nostalgic move (dont know if any of you remember Cape 104 in the 80's), and its still in line with their other properties:

kpe - 18-34
qrc - 25-44
ocean - 45-60
fcc - 55+

I'd say Sandab has pretty much covered the 18 to grave demo...........

Steve Binder should carry over as the morning guy from Classic Rock 103.9 with the format change since he was also on the original Cape 104.

Well it looks al though we can all put away out cowboy hats and yeehaws. This is not like COD...I have yet to hear any rap or anything urban. I guess there will be not "Doc Holidays" on Cape cod airwaves. ;)

well what is the format????? please tell me i am dieng to know.

But wasn't Cape 104 originally a CHR/Pop station, like The Rose is now? I also remember I think COD used to be more on the CHR side back in the early 90s.

Yes, Cape 104 (104.7) was a very good CHR station back in the 1980's. I remember it well.

If WCOD was pop, it was later. I seem to remember them as being more of a rocker - but I could be wrong.

What a crazy move... WQRC was almost Hot AC already. Now they have WOCN/WQRC and WQRC/WKPE overlapping quite a bit. Plus, it's the same format as WCOD basically.

I was down on the Cape yesterday, and I was shocked to find that I actually enjoyed what little of the playlist I heard. Would've been nice to hear some jocks, and the old Cape 104 bumpers, though. Are they running all automated?

I actually miss old 1047: the rocket. 'Twas my father's favorite station
