Something's Up at CBS...

I agree. How the hell did Mix get lower numbers than Hot, yet Hot gets blown up????

Also, wouldn't this new station do more harm than good for Mix?

Look at 25-54 numbers and, particularly, billing. Management does not look at 12 when making format decisions.

I agree, this is a let down. On the other hand, KRBE, KQBT, and KBXX must be celebrating this right now.

Especially KRBE. The last time they were a standalone Top 40, well... we all remember that mess.

I still wonder what that "New year, new Mix" means though.

Muy bien, muy bien....Bravo.
Please note that some stations around the country
are format changing to Easy Listen/Beautiful Music format
as well......Savvy!!
¡Feliz año nuevo!

Where are Beautiful Music stations starting up?

There are some new Soft-leaning AC stations, but I do not know of any new Beautiful Music stations anywhere in the US.

Both KBXX and KQBT shared more listeners with KODA than with KKHH, so I doubt there will be much benefit for the uban stations. Core Beat and Box listeners will likely just change the amount of time they spend with the other stations they regularly use.

It's very unlikely that KKHH listeners will only migrate to the stations that you mention as the biggest cume shares they had were with KRBE, KODA, KHMX and KTBZ. In fact, KKHH shared as much of its cume with KILT and KKBQ as with KQBT and KBXX! And it shared almost as much with KLOL and KLTN.

It's likely that the listeners will spread out across many stations, with KODA, KRBE and maybe KHMX being the only measurable beneficiaries of the change.

It's never nice to see anyone lose their job, but it should have been KHMX that flipped.

Interesting, but not surprising choice given how well classic hits does for CBS elsewhere and for Cox in San Antonio.

Except they're calling it Adult Hits, which aims younger than classic hits, and mixes genres like rock, pop, and AC. "Playing whatever we like."

In LA, CBS has both classic hits and adult hits, and both do very well in the ratings.
