Sophi Getting some Energy

The original Star was 100.7 not the cloned carbon copy that was super imposed on 94.1. Also Star was never a CHR station even from the beginning it was a Hot AC

Star is still on the air. Is their room for another Hot AC?

KYXY has been sounding more like a Hot AC station lately. I guess that happened since Smooth-FM started playing
soft rock after dropping smooth jazz. KYXY might be trying to go up against Star 94.1.

I disagree. During different dayparts, they were Hot AC in name only.

Smooth is also playing a lot of 80s/90s R&B that Magic no longer plays. Magic is starting to sound more of a soul/R&B "oldies" station with heavy play on 70's tunes.

103.7 has some impressive LOW bass. Like Q96, little processor action noticeable. As for Q96; 600kogo, have your buddy
turn the power up at Campo to compete with the new player in town.

I'm excited to see how Energy does in San Diego. The stream's been down all day long today, so I haven't had the opportunity to drop in and listen. I can only assume it sounds like a cut copy like AMP in LA. They made a very smart choice to keep their current PD and have Kevin Weatherly consult on the format. I think the station will do very well in San Diego and give a real threat to Channel and Z90 with Weatherly behind it.

Big 121 you need a decent set of speakers the Bass is almost non existant on 103.7 that station is un-listenable!!! They need to learn how to tweak the Optimod!

Re: Sophie Getting some Energy

The new listen live links for the new Energy 103.7 KEGY which are working now:

http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KEGYFMAAC.pls  64 kbps 44.1 khz AAC - best quality (title/artist/tags)

http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KEGYFM.pls  64 kbps 22.05 khz - lower quality (title/artist tags)

http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/asx/KEGYFM.asx  64 kbps 22.05 khz - lower quality (Windows Media - no title/artist tags)

In player form: http://player.streamtheworld.com/liveplayer.php?CALLSIGN=KEGYFMAAC 64 kbps 44.1 khz AAC - best quality (title/artist tags)

The old KSCF-FM links have expired and are no longer in service.

Yes they are playing 10,000 songs in a row and only repeating 9990 of them

LOL typical CHR station 96.1 is the same way. 933 plays at least 20 songs

Totally off-topic but found the above comments interesting as Q96 probably plays the MOST variety between Channel 933, Z90.3 and Energy 103.7. They have the deeper playlist for sure and actually play a number of CHR songs that the others ignore. They actually really cover the format versus leaning too much this way or that.

I disagree. I think Energy 103.7 is playing the most recurrents and variety than everyone. Q96 after that but KSIQ mixes in HOT AC tracks as well in my opinion (Pink, Foster The People, Florence and the Machine, etc.) where as 103.7 is staying true to the CHR format while adding in older jams. But I am noticing Z90.3 is playing more Hip Hop than they did when 103.7 was Sophie, which is very interesting. That station molds depending on what everyone else is doing. Blazin 98-9 goes away and Z90 it's pure Top 40. Energy invents itself and it's back to CHR.

Q-96 plays a far better variety!! and its commercial free (and probably always will be until they sell it). But Energy's audio is so bad it's un-listenable. It fatigued my ears after less than 5 minutes. Someone over there needs to learn how to hear!

I know a good enginEAR that can make that happen.

KAMP seemed to be all over the board musically when it debuted with its 10k commercial free songs in a row, and then the playlist tightened once the station started to take shape and the DJs came on board. I imagine something similar will happen at Energy.
