Sound Solutions Processor

I'll add one point to all of this - if you hire a guru to come in and assist - or set it up - do NOT allow him/her to arrive via air in the morning and spend the day tweaking. Rather, have the arrival after lunch, with the idea of surveying the equipment and getting recommendations for equipment mods/transmitteer tuning, whatever. Then tomorrow have a late and leisurely breakfast while you go over what you want and what the guru thinks can be accomplished. THEN go play tweak with your boxes. It takes a day or more for your hearing to recover from a flight, don't let anybody set the place up when they can't her well. (Try it - test your hearing just after a flight and then a couple days later, you'll be amazed at the difference. I was.)

Yet the real Littlejohn flew into my market once and while listening on a radio in a rental car on the 15 minute trip from the airport to my studio proclaimed that my CHR station sounded bad when he got there.

At least he didn't tweak it while there-and my PD supported the sound-as did the ratings.

Jeez, I get accused of a lot of things, but I think that's the first instance of unreality. Unless you refer to the gentleman with the surname 'littlejohn'. The last one I met with that surname, who is currently dead, was a seller for Continental. Who got a snootful one evening and decided I was quite bigoted - presumeably because I have a thick Southern accent. I don't know if the gentleman I assume you refer to is any kin of the elder one or not.
But I still maintain you can't hear well until some several hours after getting off an airliner, and consequently shouldn't make decisions about sound based on listening before that amount of time has passed.

Sound Solution is garbage, too many settings to adjust and almost no one is really qualified to set it up, especially myself :) Simplicity like Leif's product or Orban's line is what you want. I use MBL4 to process the Comedy station since I like how it sounds for voice, but all my music stations are running Orban pc1100 cards. The "off air delay" that is fed to the headphones in the live studio is just the pre-limiter post-processing off the analog outs, since we're an internet-only operation the delay is VERY long depending on which stream it is.

As far as uptime goes, as someone who needs the computer to be up for the station to even be on the air (nevermind playing audio), here is a screenshot I use as a demonstration (I've passed this mark by at least 75 days now):

Sure, the number of settings may confuse many, but I would say it is garbage because the SOURCE coding and lack of attention to psychoacoustics are the main problem. It works as a basic limiter (poorly at that), but as a multi-band processor it is junk. I made my decision after critically comparing it with the Breakaway Processor. BIG DIFFERENCE!
