Speculation about the "new" WOR

Does anybody think it's weird that CC is clearing Andy Dean on WOR, but not Beck, who has a huge contract with Premiere? I mean, not that Beck was super successful on WOR before, but still...

To me, Beck is a has been. He has been producing a class C radio show for some time now. With Mark Simone, WOR certainly does not need a small talent with a high price tag.

Consider this...

Beck's program doesn't need to air on WOR. His spots do.

Way back when Rush began his national show, WABC didn't air it. He did a two-hour NY show for WABC from 10:00 a.m. to noon, but the national advertising ran during the local show.

Since NYC has shown Beck isn't really their cup of tea, why not use Mark Simone's prowess to generate the audience for the time slot and air Beck's national ads during Mark's show. This way, CC clears the Beck ads in Market #1 with a larger audience than it would have had. Since the entire stopset won't be filled with Beck's spots, there are still enough units each hour to sell commercials to be voiced by Mark.

Personally, I think Beck will end up on WOR eventually. I think it's Hannity who will lose out. I see an eventual pairing of Simone and Kuby in PM Drive on WOR in which Hannity's spots air after Cumulus/WABC dumps Hannity.

Now if we could just get Lionel and Jay Diamond on at night somehow...

Saw their new lineup on the website today.

I don't think the J&K thing is a permanent show on WOR. They will probably hire somebody else (or another syndicated host) in the evenings.

Rita Cosby in the afternoons does not please me. I might sound sexist, but women do not belong on a talk radio station, especially in a prime spot. Hire somebody else to do the afternoon (Sliwa & Lichtman maybe???).

Great job by hiring Simone to do late mornings instead of Mike Gallagher. Any radio show that is syndicated by Salem Communications can be put on their own station (970 The Answer).

My next solution: bring Rush in from WABC. That way Cumulus can put second-class Mike Huckabee in for Rush, and WOR can gain tons of midday listeners. WABC can then turn their lineup into KABC's, and be BORING, BORING, BORING.

My next solution: bring Rush in from WABC. That way Cumulus can put second-class Mike Huckabee in for Rush,

Result: WOR=boring, WABC=more boring. What does that do for CC's future?

Better to leave Rush across town and counter-program something new and compelling against him. Best of both worlds: clear the old guy in NY while prepping his eventual replacement.

I think Hayworth is a good fit for talk radio.

Those of us in Phoenix do not share your opinion. We're happy he's out of politics and gone! Nothing but a blowhard buffoon.

"Dr. Alan Pressman Moves to WOR, New York. After 11 years on Access.1’s WWRL, New York, Dr. Alan Pressman takes his “Health Radio News” program to Clear Channel’s WOR, New York for a weekly 8:00 pm ET airing. He says the show will be a live, caller-driven program. Dr. Pressman states, “There are so many breaking stories about health and nutrition; stories the general public does not have easy access to. We’ll be discussing issues in the news from around the world. It’s really hard-hitting information.”

I believe Hoffman was tied to the WOR Radio Network that CC as a whole dropped. I suppose they had to find a replacement. Why not Dr. Daliah?
