Speculation articles about price hikes coming...inside scoop?

Could be investigative reporting; could be an inside scoop; could be a writer who simply knows and understands the business and the basic dollars and cents of it all. Not to demean anyone's comments or opinions here on Radio Discussions, but think about how many "armchair analysts" are here on this site alone, some with insider knowledge or at least an understanding of the business side of the industry they're commenting about - sometimes the hows and whys about the financials and why certain moves are made or prices are increased aren't terribly difficult to dissect and understand.

How do people gather such information
This one isn't a mystery. Read the article you linked. The source is a quote from the company's co-CEO, Greg Peters. He doesn't say exactly when they will increase prices, but he says they will do so with "a standard approach to price increases."

Which to me means once a year or so, just like the cable company.

Here's what I know: All of the people involved in creating TV & movies got a pay raise last year. Those raises will be passed on to consumers. So it wouldn't surprise me if all streaming services become more expensive. Not just Netflix.

The bit of information that strikes me though is that in October 2023, there was a price increase at Netflix in the basic tier, which they stated they weren't doing during the subscriber password crackdown so much and the word "soon" in several articles, meaning more imminent than say a year or so from now.
