SPORTS RAP

I usually don't associate him with that sort of rigid format; that's why I was surprised. I don't know how many stations carry Hog baseball.

I am sure they will find another Nutt hug. Thats the only thing I don't really like about old Chucky.

so here is a question for everyone.....who would YOU like to see as the next razorback football play by play man?

personally, given the choices.....i'd pick scott inman...how about you?

Is Ray Tucker out as host of Sports Rap? Shawn Arnell, previously with 1380ESPN in Little Rock prior to moving to Memphis, starting this morning is doing the sports updates on KARN's morning show. Rumor has it that he's going to be taking over Sports Rap from 5-8pm on ARN.

Ray Tucker is going back to the post of Executive Director of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. I understand he will be on the Little Rock version of Sports Rap through the end of June. The word on the street is that Tucker and the Hall of Fame are still hammering out a contract. Stay tuned

Why doesn't ARN hire Monty Rowell as the host of "Sports Rap"?

Monty is well versed with Arkansas sports. But, most of all; there is no ego or attitude that anybody would have to put up with.

Monty may / may not be "well known" throughout all of Arkansas; but, listeners could grow to love him.

I appreciate the compliment, but I don't think so.

Well as long as its not a spin fest on the air like Drive Time, I will listen.

He wouldn't have to. It used to be a Razorback show before Tucker. Now it covers all kinds of stuff that I can take in thirty second doses - but not in 20 minute interview segments. More Hogs, less, "In the six o'clock hour, we're going to talk to the coach of the Jacksonville Middle School Junior Varsity Hopscotch team, and we'll take your calls."

Nice!....

How 'bout this: Mark Dylan (of KOKY Fame) hosting Sports Rap? BTW, the name change will happen in less than a year I bet! Not with Dylan, but with "Sports Rap"...back to my point!

Mark Dylan's got the pipes, knowledge of the HAWGs, knows the state of Arkansas and the state Arkansas is in and could do an excellent job if given the freedom and time.

Maybe pair him up with a revolving host each day or week and BOOM, something different and at the same time great information.

Who's with me? GREAT...Now, get out there and beat the....(you know how it goes)...

Dylan? Yeah, we can dig it.

He's a first-rate broadcaster and a first-rate guy.

I'm not a huge fan of the music over on KOKY, but I still listen to Mark Dylan just about every day.

On the subject of who will call the Hog games long-term, is there not any chance of finding someone from out-of-state? I believe we stole Paul Eels from a Nashville station way back when. There will never be another Paul, but maybe lighthing could strike twice if ARSN shopped around a little.

The reality is that, back in the day, Coach Broyles kept a short list of replacements for 'key people" at the U of A. Paul was one of those replacements. KATV just got lucky.

Shawn Arnell who hosted this week has done a good job.... He has the knowledge, and was on with the SEC Conference Call show in about ninety markets across the southeast.

They need someone who isn't afraid to tell the University how it is every once in a while.

I like Chuck (even if he did sound like an apologist for UA) and thought he did a great job on the show. I wish Chuck and ARN would just make nice with each other; ARN doesn't appear to have any revenue on their log all day (except during Sports Rap). Chuck could own the show, sell it and pay ARN to distribute it.

Listening to Tucker is like watching really old people eat; it just makes you feel uncomfortable.

ARN is in a big mess!! Obviously, Chuck is using KFAY as a grub stake for now, awaiting word on the football PBP. If he gets it, forget about Chuck being back on ARN. If he doesn't, then look for Chuck and ARN to make nice. ARN needs him because of his familarity with listeners and Chuck will need ARN because he won't have a big platform without ARN ANDfootball PBP.
