I keep hearing Stan Roberts do a promo for one of those paid Saturday morning shows on KB. Why don't they give him an airshift? Has he worn out his welcome on the Buffalo airwaves? He has a very distinct voice, I knew who it was right away!

If he has a distinctive voice that you recognize right away, why on earth would he have worn out his welcome on Buffalo's airwaves?
What a rude, nasty thing to say.

I sense the "worn out welcome" he was asking about wasn't with public, but with management, perhaps? I didn't see any personal attack in Mike's post.

It's an interesting question, though...

No please!!! You misunderstand, I'm a fan!

Otherwise why would I have made the suggestion he sould be givven an airshift in the first place?

Honest it was just a question not a slam!

Perhaps Mr. Littenberg is just happy selling the air time.

Maybe but for most of us who have been on the air it's in the blood and we never quite get over it no matter what we might tell you!

Also I always thought he was very talented on the air. IF he'd do a couple of hours in the the afternoon KB would really once again be a personality powerhouse! Would people listen? I don't know but it would be fun to give it a try.

I tell the kiddies... listening to KB in the '60's was like hearing a morning show 24 hours a day! You didn't want to turn it of because you knew if you did you'd miss something!

Sorry if I mis-read what you said, Mike. I have to get out of this negative head space I'm in.
And, yes, KB in the 60s...and 70s for that matter...was like listening to a morning show all day long. It's too bad that the lawyers and accountants who run the show these days have no sense of the ART of the business.

No problem, in a written medium like this things can be misunderstood. It sounds like we are on the same side and I too had a bout of negitive feelings today. Case in point see my post about The Lake above.

Why must we have two of everything and 0 of so many other formats? Can't anyone come up with something origional? If not, soon it will be 7 rock stations and 3 country stations in each market. Why is it when there were fewer station we had more variety? Today all that matters is ratings but ratings don't always equal great radio.

Oh and back to KB it frustrates me to no end that the people outside of Buffalo seem to enjoy it more than the people in Buffalo!

ART, yes radio when it's good can be art. I would like to hear a station like WADV today even though I am from the rock and roll generation. Sometimes you just want to hear something different and from the little bit I've heard of WADV it was one of a kind.

I think there is one thing we can all agree on is Buffalo has always been a great radio market. Miami while good couldn't come close but maybe I'm biased because that's the first radio I heard...Nah.

Oh and you should always be able to hear a good Polka on the radio in Buffalo. I'm not Polish but when I hear a Polka on the radio I know I'm home. No matter where I roam Buffalo will always be home!

Well, take heart, Mike...if the radio won't give you polka, there always is the Adelphia cable home channel which has that polka show on. Riveting TV...
