Star 101.5: Seattle's only ALL-DIGITAL radio station?

Well, that's what one of their promos said this afternoon. In fact, it was touting the high-quality audio processing - "music as it was meant to be heard" or something like that.

The promo even took a swipe at the "loud" signals in the market (you know who you are...and some of you are doing a lousy job of being loud).

100% digital? I s'pose that's true...if you factor out the mics, the phones and the transmitter...

Is that the same as Hi Def (HD) radio? If so, Fisher's WAY behind the curve.
 
It's kinda interesting how a lot of stations promote the fact they broadcast in HD and rarely mention you'll need a new expensive radio to get the HD signal.

They're just saying that I think as a hedge against the HD bluster of stations like KBKS. KPLZ is still analog signal-wise (and maybe a little TOO quiet?), but the general public is not aware of HD radio yet and many would want a bigger incentive than what's out there now to switch (a station that plays whole albums was one idea I heard the other day. If you think the RIAA's panties are in a wedgie now with the peer to peer downloaders...)

HDTV sells itself with it's picture. HD Radio stations are going to have to start making use of those sub-channels and offer demo simulcasts on their analog signals to help further the transition for a few years.
