Have they Brought a Morning host on For star 94 and or Afternoon host for star 94 as well seems like they have been jockless for awhile now
Personality-driven radio is almost dead
Or perhaps the new programming leadership is simply getting the music right first (which seems to be helping in the ratings) before rebuilding its lineup.Nope. And they won't. Personality-driven radio is almost dead, and Star has been floundering for 15 years now so they'll never catch up.
Hopefully that's the case. The change in the music happened before Emily Boldon was brought in. And the jocks who were let go were top notch as was the PD.Or perhaps the new programming leadership is simply getting the music right first (which seems to be helping in the ratings) before rebuilding its lineup.
Reminds me of the NEW 97.1 The River every time they tried to add a morning show.Hopefully that's the case. The change in the music happened before Emily Boldon was brought in. And the jocks who were let go were top notch as was the PD.
Ratings are up slightly since the music change and consistent since then. So the station could be thinking one of 2 ways: 1) Our ratings are as high without jocks so why spend the money?, or 2) The new music mix is increasing the ratings. Just think how much they would go up if we added jocks.
Time will tell.
MrRadio, have faith! Kevin and Taylor, from the Fish in Atlanta are going to do mornings at Star starting September 15. I'd like to think Star will go more AC route because of this because not sure how their music will match these two new personalities.Nope. And they won't. This gives me hope indeed. I hope 94 will go more AC/80s/90s. Maybe satisfy some of us that are looking for pop hits and not just classic rock.MrRadio, have faith! And hopefully they will be live and local. From the AJC article they appear to adding midday and pm drive hosts in the near future.
I'd like for them to add a music identity.I’d like them to add back jocks in the other dayparts.
I'd like for them to add a music identity.
This is so true! Funny how, for DECADES Star has ALWAYS ended up in some sort of identity crisis, no matter what they call themselves.
I'm hearing very little hip-hop. Six months ago, they were playing a lot of it.They still identify as Rhythmic-AC, still play quite a bit of hip-hop (which I get)
It’s an up to date version of Jammin’ Oldies. Had the format continued this is where it would be.I'd like for them to add a music identity.
That is a GREAT move. He is very talented.Radio Insight reporting that Brian Moote will join for afternoons.RadioInsight
The most consistent non Urban Music station in Atlanta is 97.1. Last time I checked, they had less than 500 songs in their playlist. This "job" is on air. Form past experiences, unfortunately what a lot of folks on this board consider stale wins ratings. Streaming is an after thought*. I am not sure exactly what format it really is. Last time I listened (September), they were a lot less rhythmic than July.I think if you look at the streaming behavior of most people, you'll also see a lack of consistent identity. The game for a radio station today is to provide the right mix (there's that word) of genres and tempos to keep people listening. If a station gets too consistent in either of those areas, it stands the risk of becoming stale or boring.
