If anything, Star seriously needed to find some sort of direction for a fair amount of time. Over the stations six years, the station continually swayed from rhythmic oldies to rhythmic AC to a very dance-friendly rhythmic AC to a hot AC... although for some reason, every direction taken always seemed to include excessive spins of Donna Summer and the Bee Gees. The poorly-planned Richard Hatch morning gig and the revolving door of personalities at the station's start couldn't have helped listeners adjust to the station at the start either.

That said, Star was able to pull decent ratings considering that the station's rimshot status, and if Infinity/CBS had pulled the trigger on Jack FM just a day earlier, Star would probably still be around today. Star leaves a legacy in Boston - the station tested the waters for any MOViN-like stations that may come in the future, showing that a rhythmic contemporary outlet could work in a city full of rock stations - but as for whether the "Star" brand will return to the regular dial (seeing that Star lives on at 93.7 HD-2), it's probably not too likely.

I have a question about the MOVin format--is that what they play on Chicago's 100.3-FM The Love? Because I really dislike the music and format, but did give it a listen and something about it makes me think it's packaged. Thank you to whomever can assist me.

100.3 Love FM (WILV Chicago) is a bit different from MOViN. The station signed on in 2004 as a replacement for 100.3 WNND, which oddly enough was an 80s-90s hot AC under the same ownership as WTMX. When the station launched, it played a lot of romantically-themed rhythmic gold (Spinners, The Supremes) mixed with 80s and 90s gold AC tracks, with artists like Gloria Estefan and Luther Vandross. The station saw immediate growth, and so did Clear Channel, which modified WLIT in 2005 to mirror WILV's rhythmic lean. Around that time, WILV began going for a more upbeat sound, adding the slogan "Chicago's Feel Good Station" and blending some older MOViN tracks into the playlist.

But perhaps to answer your question more clearly, WILV is not a MOViN franchise: it's locally programmed by Bonneville, although Bonneville does own one MOViN station in St. Louis.
