I had a feeling that station B was an AM, because of the eclectic playlist.
DavidEduardo said:Speaking personally, A is quite the winner. B has some nice things, but a few I don't ever want to hear (Dean Martin is one) and several I would not want to hear more than once a year or so.

The's are for surprised plays, those are songs that just simply aren't played anymore.
I's been awhile since I've Seen Dean Martin, Lee Dorsey, and the DC 5 played.
All of them are pretty good songs too.
It does seem a tad bit odd that The Turtles were played almost exactly 30 minutes apart on Station B.

I know this because I'll be kicking it off. You'd be surprised how many former number one's are total stiffs today. Should be fun!

I'll have to check this one out. Good to see that radio is still doing big specialties like this. Make sure "Honey" ('68) is not skipped, or "Billy Don't Be a Hero" ('74)...
Too bad pre 64's or 50's music is being left out.
Reminds me of K-Earth 101 doing a similiar thing in the mid 1980's. They would play every KHJ #1 song in chronological order from January 1955 thru 1984 over Labor Day Weekend. But in 1989, that all ended. PD change I believe or song licensing issues?? I was not a happy camper. But those were the days indeed!

Toxic waste.
DavidEduardo said:Key to why that feature ended, mercifully, is the four digit string "1955" and nothing eles.

No, I'm just embarrassed... I actually liked that song at one time. And error of youth... a minor peccadillo.
In that vein ...#1's in chono special show,i would listen...because It is a historical and a visual of the evolution of music as the years go by.....as a matter of fact I created a series of cd's for my reunion gigs 1955-1980 every #1 in chono order......oldies76 said:johnsummers said:Well, apparently not.... like during special weekend programming. the uk charts are pretty cool to compare to the Billboard hot 100, it gives you a fresh look at the charts we are familiar with. a new spin on the music (Pun intended).radioman148 said:>>In that vein ...#1's in chono special show,i would listen...because It is a historical and a visual of the evolution of music as the years go by.....as a matter of fact I created a series of cd's for my reunion gigs 1955-1980 every #1 in chono order......>>
Great idea. There was a show in the UK on BBC in the early 90s where they presented every single number 1 record in order from the UK & US from 1955 through 1990. Great listening.
