SUGGESTION FOR COX RADIO

Not oldies. It's a 60s-early 80s classic hits format, kinda MOR-like with some rock gems mixed with Motown, folk and pop. Great station. It's what I listen to when I go to San Antonio or when I stream here because Cox Houston....SUCKS!!!

A lot of people would listen to a KONO like format.

If you're going to keep classic rock on the Eagle, please widen the playlist. Surely Cox isn't so cheap their server only has the same 300 songs to play repeatedly.

The server should have plenty of space now. If Eagle plays 300 songs, there should be vacancy from the 600 former songs from The Zone (note the wide playlist). 107.5 and 106.9 are GONE from my presets. I listened to The Point and The Zone but I can't take The Eagle as one of my top 6 "A" Bank presets. I live in Katy and I'd prefer the poor reception of KHJK and it has replaced 106.9. I used to listen to D&R but the bashing of people wanting their Zone or another station on 106.9 did me in.

on 106.9 ??

Old Chicago

Wouldn't that be illegal to simulcast one station to another city?
Why don't they go hip hop. Or what the heck do another spanish format.

Didn't know D&R were bashing Zone listeners. I guess I gave them more credit than I should have.

No COX radio stations on my presets. For a brief moment, #4 was 95.7 but after vomiting in the car too many times it was changed to 89.7 KACC since I can pick them up fairly well. FM-2 is always set to 87.9 for FM transmitter, and now my old SIRIUS Receiver (still active despite canceling 3 years ago).

I have a feeling I'll be set to FM-2 a LOT. Going around FM-1, I feel like a lost puppy without a home.

Cox owns both stations, so as long as the TOH ID on 106.9 is "KHPT, Conroe(-Houston)", it should not be a problem; otherwise it would be illegal to have satellite automation (Family Radio, K-Love, et al.). Now the copyrights on the songs are a different story.

I could loan them some music to fill those servers plus a few more & if they still have vinyl, cassette or even 8 track.... I have a nice collection there too!!!! Just sayin...

Just like their decision to dump The Zone, they were probably dumb enough to toss out all analog equipment, including some nice broadcast grade turntables, some Otari reel to reels, Tascam cassette decks and JBL studio monitors for a computer and some crappy self-powered speakers.

Not to hi-jack this thread or anything but it's been years since I've listened to local Houston radio. I blue-tooth it all day long with internet radio. (most commercial free) If I want updates to events/news taking place in my local area that's what I have email for.

Why not simulcast an internet radio station like a 977 channel, 1.FM, Heavy Metal Radio, 181FM, Big R Radio, HIT104 and etc... There are literally THOUSANDS to choose from. With Blue-tooth radios coming standard now in cars, FM/AM might turn into local HAM radio

just me 2 cents

Oh and for those who have satellite radio, when you cancel your sub, they may deactivate you but Sirius/XM still show you active for the next 18 months! Fraud!

They didnt have anything like that in the KHPT booth. Not sure what music software they were using, 3 CD decks, Voxpro, and a couple of minidisc player decks... no turntables or reel to reel players

I canceled 3 years ago but recently plugged my radio back in. It's still active (Sirius). The antenna is in my windshield, because I removed it about 4 months ago after I started to really get into The Zone... now it's Lithium time for me.

Gotta love all the passive-aggressive comments about satellite radio. It is supposed to be like "OH GOD NO!!! There's a handful of people that used to listen to a radio station with no ratings defecting to...gasp...SATELLITE RADIO!!! Let's change the format back pronto so we don't lose them!"

I know they're not changing the format back. I just have concern for their health... all of that crack cocaine in the meeting room while making station decisions can't be good.

Do you really think decisions like this are made locally? Think again.

Cox is really buttoned down. I kinda doubt the boys in Atlanta are doing rocks in their Armani suits.
