Box stacked at the top.
102 losing some Majic.
Estereo Latino recovering from recent drops.
Sunny setting lower; are soccer moms dumping them along with the SUV's?
KRBE up a bit, as is The Buzz.
La Raza is way up, who are they grabbing audience from?
Country Legends tied for 10th place (beating sister KKBQ), good show for a rimshot.
Mega dropping, novelty wearing off?
KLDE getting moldy, will they Jack up the ratings or Bob for something else?
KHPT pointing down, maybe we'll get both Jack and Bob.
XO up, getting listeners deserting Mega?
KROI slightly down, probably has settled. Is Radio One satisfied or sharpening the axe?

KHMX-good to see that station trying to survive. I sure do miss the Roula and Ryan Show though. Try not to get mad at me, but I loved them! They were so cool! Jay, Eric, Intern Super Dave! I though they were one of the best shows in H-town. Now yall have Sam and Natalie. Havent heard em though.
KKBQ-No surprise there. I was upo in H-town this past summer. I listened to 93Q only because they played the same song over and over again (i love that) but when i heard them bashing KILT everyother song intro. I turned to KILT.
Real smart Q!

Its a pretty big surprise that XO is getting close to Mega to me, and also same way with 98.5 & 103.3 big jump for them. I think KROI should try out jammin oldies or old school r&b or something like that, I dont know if they can cut it. But all in all a good book, most of my stations that I listen to still doing great, hope it keeps on going, KRBE still going strong.

I wonder how many people on this board actually look at daypart breakdowns. KRBE is doing horrible in morning drive, Mega had a crap book, and Mix had the highest numbers in morning drive that they ever had. (Look beyond 12 plus and examine the targets of each of the three stations I mentioned).

I don't see the numbers and I've learned from reading the boards that 12+ numbers mean next to nothing.
KRBE may be doing horrible in mornings now, how were they doing before March and how did that compare with KHMX mornings at the same time?

Just curious.

As you know, if I post all the breakdowns on this site, it will be gone instantly, but I can tell you that R&R even beat A&M in 12 plus morning drive. That is unheard of that an AC station could beat the CHR in morning drive. It's pretty clear that CC just pulled the plug on their most lucrative morning show they ever had. Don't get me wrong, I think Atom is very talented, but Houston is a big market and not the kind of town where you throw somebody on to "learn" how to do morning drive. Honestly, I have been looking for something to listen to and am finding myself headed over to talk more and more. Both Mix and KRBE are so cheeseball old skoool, I am gone. (And no, I am not some old geek who grew out of the demo...I am the cross cume between KHMX and KRBE).

Right, you can't post actual numbers, but you can say who was ahead of who and what place they were in. (Box #1, Magic #2, etc.)
What I was curious about though, was how Roula & Ryan ranked against Sam & Maria prior to Sam leaving KRBE, not how they rank against Atom & Maria.

Sam was beating them in 48-72 year-old males who enjoyed hearing politiicans on a weekly basis. But hey, that's mass appeal! Oy vey!

So if they take down the last post here are just the rankings for KRBE Mornings.

Adults 18-34 (4th)
Women 18-34 (2nd)
Women 12-24 (#1)
Women 25-34 (#2)

There you have it. They're failing miserably (that's sarcasm).

KHMX had the highest numbers in the morning drive because Roula, Ryan And Eric were awesome and they talked about alot of interesting things that the listeners related to, but their music is the same ole boring mix everyday, I mean come on

If You're Gone
Matchbox 20

Don't Let Me Get Me
Pink

This Love
Maroon 5

Wake Me Up When September Ends
Green Day

you can hear these songs "Everyday" in the morning and then they drive it in the ground during the day, why not mix it up more, there is alot more variety of music out there to listen to. Unless people starting letting these radio stations hear that they don't want to hear these songs everyday KHMX/ClearChannel will just keep cramming them down our throats. I have found an interesting little knob on my radio that does wonders for this, it's called the "Off Button"

Sam must have regularly kicked their asses or they would still be on the air at KHMX. Right??

What is sad is the fact that Ken Charles, Vince Richards, Buddy Scott, and a handful of other worthless CC programmers, not mention Susquehanna programmers, sit on this board posting and reading all this crap instead of actually working. If I made my living working for a radio station, I don't think I would have time for something like this. (I do get a kick out of it as someone who works in a related market where I can F around). Maybe instead of F'ing around all day posting and looking at porn, they should focus on getting the job done. (I'd sell more if you did bozos).

We will see in the next installment of the ratings if Sam was the answer to KHMX's woes. In my opinion and this is from a listeners standpoint, I don't have any inside radio information like you dj's or pd's but the music is what sucks on KHMX. How are you going to get people to listen all day if you play the same ole mix day after day, eventually people are going to get tired of the same songs. As for why Roula, Ryan And Eric aren't at KHMX anymore is because there are some sorry people there that give their word, shake your hand and then stab you in the back. Who wants to work in that environment anyways. Oh but then again that's radio, right.

Hey why work, when you bring in Sam "High Ratings" Malone to carry the torch, and get mix back to the top of the ratings who needs to worry about the music or the listeners anymore, KHMX has shown they are great at that. Sam will save the day with his tired, boring, 20 year old "See Ya" bit. "Hail all mighty Sam".

Good Lord! Hey kaos... We ALL GET IT! You don't like Sam Malone, you're mad at CC, and you love R&R. Isn't there anything else you would like to say or ask???

Forgive us. It's quite a cynical business we're in.

I just have to say, thank you kaos1972, for giving another
first-hand demonstration of the way our business affects
your life. Yes, I knew coming into radio at 21 that I was
signing up for a rough ride, but thank you for reminding me
again of the reason I did so---we all did so---the slim hope
that we would touch people, make an impact on your life,
give you a friend that you could set the clock by
(dangling participles notwithstanding). I can't
speak for R&R or anybody else, but for this lifelong radio
geek, all I can say is this: Thank you for being there, and
thank you for giving a damn.
