Ok... first off... I am NOT in the radio biz although I do deal with some people in that business occasionaly for certain issues. Secondly... I was hoping that I would at least point out to you the redundancy of your posts and how its getting just a bit creepy. I didn't even mention your hostile tone. This is a RADIO INDUSTRY board and guests on here such as you and I need to be respectful of that fact. It doesn't mean you can't have an opinion on here. However, take a step back and notice some of the things you have said in your posts:

1.) (See your strange "man enough to call" asinine comment above.)

2.) hey is dabomb "Roula"? I would like to know who the sexy Roula is?

3.) As for all you radio people on this site, quit responding by saying it is part of radio, I am a listener not in radio, don't tell me how to show displeasure or concern over something I care about. If your skin is so thick, move on, move past it, but quit sending me posts telling me how to react. I know their are alot of people reading these boards, fans of R & R just like me.

4.) I Welcome Anyone That Tells Me To Take That File Off My Site, You Will See What You Get!!!!!

5.) The idiot at Clear Channel or higher up needs his lights punched out for them doing Roula And Ryan like they did. Their listeners were the real losers of this injustice, and I hope they boycott MIX now, I will!!!!!!

I neglected to mention all of the other posts that kept the same "I love R&R and hate Sam Malone" subject. My point to you is that your posts tend to lean towards violence and obsessive compulsive behavior. Maybe I have a short memory, but I don't remember people threatening others over the whole KLOL fiasco. Take a step back and look. Oh and why on Earth would I want to call you???

KROI has probably leveled off. Radio One will now need to decide whether the low 1's are acceptable. I can't see how La Mera Mera is making any money, especially given the $72.5 million paid for the 92.1 stick. I imagine they are reluctant to dump what had been a big initiative targeting Hispanic listeners, but a year after the format flip it's clear that at the very least, the format needs radical adjustments.

It would be smarter for RO to leave the Spanish language formats to the big boys in the Hispanic broadcasting biz, being Univision, Liberman, and now CC. RO would probably be much better off going back to their core African-American demographics, which are arguably underserved in this market.

I sound like a broken record on this one, but I'm still pulling for Urban Gospel on 92.1.

that last post sounded pretty sarcastic but I will be the better person here, you're welcome.

I could care less about all other dj's and stations in general but R, R & E were different they were relateable and that is why so many liked them. Until they come back I won't be listening to radio, after all they were the only reason I would listen in the mornings, it wasn't for the music.

you're right, I guess I got carried away, I apologize to all. Thanks for pointing it out. Some of the comments were uncalled for. I will tone down the messages as I don't want to get thought of in a bad way. I just feel KHMX should have handled their situation better. Some of my comments over stepped the line. Sorry again to all.

You made your point in the later post, I apologized for the "rough tone" of my messages and the "personal attacks" and said it wouldn't happen anymore. I am just responding to the posts, please don't personal attack me anymore over my new posts if you don't agree. I read some of your posts and you seem to be anti-R&R, so we will be butting heads all the time at this rate. Take Care.

You got it... Sorry if I offended as well.

Actually it sounded kinda sincere to me.

> I could care less about all other dj's and stations in general

Then why don't you? (See, now that's sarcasm...sorry, I just have a thing for when people say "could care less" when they really mean "couldn't care less.")

> but R, R & E were different they were relateable and
> that is why so many liked them.

Which is what most jocks strive to be and what programmers strive to find. For whatever reason, the programmers in this case thought they could do better. Whether they have or not will be shown in future ratings and/or ad revenue.

> Until they come back I won't be listening to radio,

Which is all you can do.

> after all they were the only reason I would listen in the mornings, it wasn't for the music.

You're preaching to the choir on that point. Remember, we're the people who turn the radio UP when the music is over to hear the talking, and turn it back down when the music comes back on.

I do hope R&R find a new home in Houston. I didn't listen to them often, but they were 5th on the list for me when everything else was in commercials. (My list, in order, by the way: Howard Stern, Rod Ryan, Walton & Johnson, John & Lance, Roula & Ryan)

I have to agree Mediafrog, except the broken record, I probably hold that title. Radio One has given KROI a decent time to show some growth and believe that the low ones are the best the present format is going to perform. Having the nearly consistant top two stations in 12+ gives RO no urgency to change format, but doubt that the KROI ratings are acceptable to RO.

I haven't really kept up with the format tweaking to the stations, but if no one has a Spanish Oldies station, KROI may want to give that a try. I know RO really wanted to break into the Hispanic Market, but Houston and the abundant number of Hispanic orientated stations may have been the wrong market. Then again Houston and Los Angeles of the major cities might be the best test for a format aimed at the Hispanic Market.

I would like to see Urban Gospel given a year and see where it goes in the ratings, guess is around mid twos. While KWWJ 1360 is usually mid zeros, the station is daytime for metro Houston and crammed in between Corpus Christi and Dallas and even daytime has a less than great coverage area. KROI could change that with Urban Gospel on FM.

Has anyone heard any difference in coverage since KROI is now on the tower further south than before? Upgrade to a Class C is/was probably the idea, but it would involve a massive realignment of stations to achieve, nearly as bad as the original upgrade of 92.1. It would also push KTRU 91.7 even further out of the Houston area and I don't see Rice U being open to that when the station needs a translator on campus already to be heard in the buildings.

Only a few surprises: KTJM 98.5 tied in 8th {on a rimshot station}; KTHT Country Legends tied for 10th {another rimshot station}; Mega 101, have to wonder if it isn't a fluke; KFNC 97.5 still in the cellar, I expected a jump in the ratings, although the 97.5 signal is killing the station and KIOL, I also expected a increase in ratings, not a drop. The station is tweaking the format and much better than a few months ago. Would help if the station was staffed fulltime. Can't blame the signal for the ratings as 103.7 is on par with KTJM and both are nearly as good as KTHT.

Finally, after a month in the NE US, God is it good to be home. Traffic shock though, looks like there are twice as many vehicles on the road than a month ago. No city I was in came close to Houston's traffic. Even with the traffic and smog, Houston is one great city. Houston has more to offer than any city in the NE US and an equal to NYC.

Still think we have better food - philly cheesteaks, pizza, and the best deli food. Houston does have a great arts section, but I'd rather be in Philly or NYC....

I could live in Manhattan, love the food from the street vendors. I doubt I would ever have a salary to match the same style of life I have in Houston. Sorry I've been to Philly, not a bad city, but it isn't where I would live, even with a gun to my head. Then there is Buffalo, some excellent food there too, but I would put the gun to my head before I would live there.

Houston has great food, just need to know where the right places are to go. Galveston has some great places also. A few in the Strand District and a few off the beaten path that most don't venture. Bay City, population around 20,000, has a steak house that most big cities would kill to have. Every year Houston has the International Festival, March I think. Different country every year and all the foods of that country, some of the food is not necessarily for the faint of heart. The Greek Festival every year and all the treats of Greece and the list could go on.

Luckily we all have our favorite place and it is from a farm house in the middle of no where to a high rise condo in a big city and everywhere in between. Houston is pretty full right now because of hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the people that came to Houston for a few days or weeks and stayed. One thing for sure, if another group of people were displaced from their homes the good people of Houston would find room for everyone. Just another reason that Houston is a great city, the people.

Is KROI on there new tower now? I noticed a decrease in power on my reciever at Lavaca county, I have my antenna pointed straight up due towards downtown Houston now, after Rita threatened in that area I had to take everything down out there and put it back up, with it going downtown Houston, I can also recieve Beaumont fairly well. I like there rock station KIOC it plays some good music. I was wondering I gues K208DK that simalcasts KSBJ is going by Satellite? It seems to be a secound or 2 off of 89.3 KXBJ, the Victoria one.

I was wondering that too. Signal seems the same on the home receivers at my Cy-Fair location, but a little different while driving around--perhaps a few dropouts not noticed before.

Wonder if they got all new equipment for the new site or just moved stuff around?

KROI filed for a license to cover BL-20050912AAL and is operating pursuant to automatic PTA. The signal just outside the Galleria area is not as strong or as clear as the old tower. The signal is distorted at times and likely a multipath problem since I live on the other side of the high rises on the West Loop and the Galleria area. I was expecting a better signal from the higher antenna height even with the necessary decrease in power.

>Well, I personally would live in suburban Buffalo anyday before going to a city that is full of smog and traffic jams and I like getting to work in 20 minutes, not 3 hours like Houstonians have to do. If you hate Buffalo so damn much, why do you even go there? I love the change of seasons and the convenience of everything. You can take your smelly old overcrowded traffic congested lousy radio city anytime.
