Cool. Still baffled as to who you are. Hmmm. CFKane

Re: Summer Book...

Whoa there, CF. Very valid points, all of them. But indirectly, you are agreeing with me in your post. No, the Buzz is not the same radio station today that it was even as recently as a year ago. I've lived here long enough to appreciate their past successes and was able to see what happened there when Kramer left. Heck, everyone saw this coming, but I don't think anyone thought that 100 would get off the mat the way they did. I had my doubts, big time, but I think we've seen a comeback of pretty significant proportions. I think your description of a rusted out s*itbox may be a bit harsh though. Heck, any station in town could fall under that category. :)

As far as it being a mistake for WMBZ to go Modern AC back in '01, I disagree with Steve. You're right, CF. It was the right thing to do as far as attacking the leader, and it d a m n near worked. Hard to believe it took 100 this long to finally figure out how to make this work, but they've adjusted and put the right pieces together for them. Congrats...they fixed it. Now, they're 'RVR's problem (and a big one too, if you look at the latest book).

Now, it's time for 94.1 to cash in what little chips they have left, and move to the next poker table to try their luck... There happens to be an older guy with a cowboy hat on who's been sitting there for a while, waiting for 94.1 to come back and play him heads up again. Man, I'd love to see that battle. KIX causes just as many problems for 'RVR as FM100 did, and now Entercom needs to make a move against the other big dog in town. That would be a bigger help to WRVR at this point than the current incarnation of 94.1.

You are right about another thing, CF. Argo, Nikki, and Tripp deserved so much better than what they went through. They are class acts...and congrats to Argo on the new gig with Sirius.

And, I NEVER relished in that The Buzz tanked. I'm more shocked than anything, and amazed that the tables have turned as much as they have. I won't lie, right now I simply think FM 100 is a better sounding radio station than The Buzz, and they're considerably more focused than they've been in a long time. Besides, 'MBZ is not done yet, obviously. When the switch is thrown, that's when they tank. I'm simply offering a suggestion and speculating what could come next on Ridgeway.

BTW, why has 'RVR played "Escape" by Rupert Holmes TWICE in the past 3 hours today? Lot's more 70's music too today it seems...Personally, I'm digging it.

Never said what "Sh*tbox" was handing them their a**. That was a bit harsh, regardless. My bad.

Agreed, but the success, it's directly related to the Buzz. FM 100 had to do absolutely nothing but sit and watch. Granted, they have done some interesting things, (Whatever comes to mind) but all they had to do, was watch the implosion, to see it's benefits. That loose cume had to go somewhere, and it has.

I would love to see a battle Royale again, but Steve may be right, Entercom doesn't seem to favor country.

They are good folks, who were dumped on, by one bad decision, after another. Fine folks all the way around, and the last people to deserve it.

It's been assumed that you work for WMC for some time. That's why the speculation that you enjoy their success. Certainly nothing wrong with that. Just a fair assumption. Lance has done a lot for the station, I would continue that thought, but wouldn't do me any good! LOL

Must be a request hour thing... HMMM. That's obviously not normal. CFKane

Re: Argo at Elvis Radio???

He's doing nights on Elvis Radio...and supposedly the program director.

EP 24/7

TY is the Operations Mgr. for Elvis Radio. The PD-like figure is in Nashville, and pops in from time to time.

TY is doing nights, VTed.

Word on the street is that Elvis radio now has the following line-up:

Mornings: Argo
Afternoons: Doc Walker (sort-of the Joker in their deck)
Nights: TY

Weekends from Memphis: Big Jim Sykes, Dave Shelby

Or, that's what I'm told. I'll have to check it out sometime.

Re: Summer Book...

One of the things I really like about this board and my fellow Memphians, you're not afraid to tell how it really is. It's about honesty without fear and I greatly respect that, and the bosses who read and tolerate it.

Strange concept in some markets where fear rules.<P ID="signature">______________

Well, the good news, Mr. 'Saur, if there is any good news in this, is that FINALLY the entire country can finally see just how untalented this guy is.
