I wasn't surprised that they chose the Slack-Jawed Fleas, but given that the game was in Texas, you might've expected ZZ Top or a big country act (Toby K? talk about being in the Fox wheeelhouse!).

Next year the game is is Indy -- paging John Mellencamp?

I don't know why they haven't gotten an A-list country crossover act like Rascal Flatts or Carrie Underwood. Seems like that would be huge.

They did a "young country" show back in the '90s featuring several artists who were big on the charts back then. I remember Mary Chapin Carpenter jumping off a riser during "Down at the Twist and Shout." I bet a similar package (Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, etc.) would attract a lot of eyeballs. Too bad New York, where the decisions are made, ignores country music no matter how big it is elsewhere.

Well, there is still hope for the younger generation, watching the NBA all-star, pre-game featured a group called "Bruno Mars". They did a great cut called "Just the Way you are" (original song-not the Billy Joel)...the song knocked-me-out, great sounding group with chicago type brass section, two guitars, keyboard and dual vocalists. And Lenny Kravitz (I think It was Lenny Kravitz-the short hair threw me off) did a good job with his still intact great rock/R&B fusion sound.

And if you're looking for a country crossover group, how about Lady Antebellum? Judging by their Grammy success, they could be huge. But with the Grammys, this year's big winner is often a has-been by next year.

If you have ever seen the Ringo Starr All-star band tour, then you know the above could work.

good call, yes , we need to include James McCartney, he played on several McCartney recordings....Yoko, was not as bad as she was made out to be, and didn't break-up the Beatles....she could play tambourine or something,her presence would add tp the magic, ..after all this as close to re-uniting the Beatles, we will ever get at this point...

ON THE MONKEES - They played their own instruments from the LP "Headquarters" on. They played a successful concert tour in 1967. Two of them were musicians, two actors by trade. Micky, one of the actors, took the music seriously and learned to play. Mr. Kirshner lost some control. However, as Kirshner lost more control, the band began to descend in popularity. He was a good music business man.

BEATLES - I think both Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr sound good today. I saw Ringo in concert last summer and the show was hot. He was in good form. The idea of bringing the sons in is an intriguing idea. I wouldn't leave Yoko out, out of respect.
Yoko's best vocal performances are on the song "Sisters O Sisters" which is on the "Sometime In New York City" album, and the B-side of the "Woman is The N-word of The World" and her lone hit "Walking On Thin Ice" (1980).
"Sisters O Sisters" is a Women's-lib song with an infectious beat and competent playing by The Elephants Memory band who were hanging with John and Yoko at the time. "Walking..." is an aggressive, upbeat, danceable Rock song which features possibly the last recorded guitar playing by John.

You should have seen Zac Starkey on drums with Ringo and the very incredible Mark Rivera,who plays at least 5-6 instruments in concert.,

Madonna has to get with the times,,,what I am assuming after her opening song Vogue, are new songs..sounded like her 80's stuff ??? But then again we already have a 2012 Madonna...Lady GaGa. She looked great,thou, I gotta give here that, but then again, at my age, Betty White looks good to me too....

The first song was "Vogue" from 1990; she closed with "Like a Prayer" from 1989. The song in between was the new one, "Gimme All Your Lovin'" or something like that. It was the one with the cheerleaders chanting "L-U-V Madonna!" So in my opinion, it is probably the most self-absorbed song of her career!

The joke on John Boy and Billy earlier this week was that you could watch the Madonna half-time show and see what kind of half-time show that Lady Gaga will put on in about 10 years! ;D Although I would have said 20 years, myself.

Yes 20 years later is closer. First two super bowl half-time shows, were I believe Carol Channing, and the production probably consisted of four risers and a marching band. Talk about, how the musical taste's have changed from Carol Channing to Lady GaGa.
