Surprising format change on Star 99.9

Imagine my surprise this morning when Star announced that they've made tweaks to their format. Interesting.

( from the website)
STAR 99.9
STAR 99.9 is now Connecticut's Best Mix of the 80's 90's and Today!

We asked you what you wanted, and we listened!

By popular demand, STAR 99.9 is now Connecticut's Best Mix of the 80's, 90's and Today.

Same great station, with a few adjustments. Thanks for your input, and thanks for listening to STAR 99.9!

Wanna tell us about the music you like?

Have they really tweaked to a full time hot ac? Anybody listening, noticed a change? I appreciate any info or updates. thanks

What they really need is a new morning show.
Absolutely un listenable!

Righto! Their morning show is a train wreck! Goofy, corny, not relatable. The station needs a radio emema! ::) ::)  They have been unstable in the programming dept since New City sold.

It's hardly a game-changer as far as I could tell when listening yesterday. I certainly would not call it a Hot AC.

The only thing they changed is their slogan....music is still sleepy zzz.....check out the last songs played for yourself.

They need better audio.... bad. Only Lite FM in New York is as muddy

I have heard Star 99.9, and I completely agree. It is a sad state when stations in the NYC metro (especially IN the market) sound so terrible.

WLTW needs some serious attention, though. Aren't all the CC stations in one building? Some decent engineers from their sister stations should share some tips with WLTW for the sake of people listening (although I highly doubt that's going to happen...). I, for one, can't stand the station not really because of the music, but because of the extremely bad audio. What amazes me is that the number one station in the market can sound so terribly bad. What causes it exactly? Are the people just clueless or do they actually think that it sounds great? I know WLTW is louder than most NYC stations, but I'd take a softer sound with better processing any day.

Do they at least tweak for Christmas music?

I heard that EVERYONE is out soon....
Hate to see people lose jobs. I do however think a change in mornings is necessary

Ever since they got rid of John Harper their morning show has been a complete failure. And with the music they were playing during the day (same songs every couple of hrs) it sounded really bad. I blame the upper suit wearing management at Cox for the problems not Sam.. The numbers show that something had to be done. I don't think they will quit and switch formats though.

He was the ONLY reason I listened to their morning show

Maybe they should just pull the plug on the dying patient and go back to "elevator music" like they were in the 60's?

Radio around here is awful, Star, 'PLR, KC 101, Kiss. All terrible, IMHO.

They should shut down their transmitters and move the NTS stations further northeast. At least we would have a decent CHR.
