The excitement around Taylor Swift & new boyfriend Chief's player Travis Kelce helped propel Sunday Night Football ratings to season highs:


Cameras were aimed at her suite where she was watching the game with the Kelce family.

The network's Sunday Night Football telecast scored its biggest audience of the season, averaging 27 million viewers across all platforms, according to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics (as provided by NBC Sports). A spike in women viewers, possibly driven by Swift's presence at the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets, helped drive the increases.

Interesting and didn't think this would be at play here the core Swift fans watching a regular season game specifically the Chiefs. We usually think of the team currently in the top spot getting the attention and the ratings surrounding that.
 
By no means dismissing Taylor Swift's star power. But the Chiefs have had a period of great success with Mahomes breaking through as a standout QB with name recognition beyond NFL followers, something not true for many of the QBs (or players) in the league. They're the defending champs. Travis hosted SNL, and the whole "momma Kielce" thing was a bit of a fun human interest story before Taylor entered the picture. So it's not as if the Chiefs were slouches when it comes to being ratings drivers; there's a reason that game was selected for SNF in the first place. There was going to be attention on the game regardless.

OK, sure, the Jets were supposed to have a marquee QB of their own, but that didn't quite go as planned.

They do indeed. It was amusing not long ago when she showed up on little Long Beach Island NJ for a wedding and things went, colloquially, batsh*t crazy there. She was stalked just going to a restaurant the moment word was out. Celebrities are nothing brand new to that island, but often they’re just out doing their “having a life” thing with not much fuss. What happened when she was there for that visit is a whole different level for those communities.

The NFL has no shame. The whole "Taylor Swift at Chiefs games" is crass spectacle...
 
Isn’t football basically pop culture fluff? It’s really big dudes crashing into other really big dudes, with scantily clad women and a few men waving pom-poms. Some occasional camera shots of Taylor Swift doesn’t really take away what isn’t there.

Well its Crazier than that now two pundits Stew Peters and Tomi Lahren decided to politicize Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for some reason and they are not on the ballot in 2024 and we have to put that on a separate thread due to the fact that Travis Kelce appeared on a PSA by Pfizer to get NFL Fans vaccinated.

Agreed. Celebrities are in attendance at every game. Pro events are the "Place To Be Seen" usually in the expensive suites. Swift is just this eras Beatles (Although she has only 1 percent of the talent they possessed)...
