Swift-Mania Drives SNF Ratings

Let's see who Joe Montana thinks should win the Superbowl given that he is the most notable NFL Star who was with both Chiefs and 49ers during his time with the NFL. This is the star that NFL pundits should focus.
Joe Montana retired back in 1994. Had he delayed retirement, I doubt he'd still be playing today, or that few would care about his Superbowl prediction. Not a stretch, but my guess is he would predict the Forty Whiners would win.
Taylor Swift how she became a factor in the Super Bowl is interesting but not the one that is a deciding factor who wins the game.
No, but it helps the viewership of the game. As you saw, more females were watching the last game because Taylor Swift was there. It might seem silly to you, but if it helps build viewership the NFL should give her a personal luxury box and all paid expenses to every NFL game next season.

As if she can't afford to do that all by herself several times over.
Who goes to all those games that don't involve her boyfriend? An AI Taylor? A body double?

As I said, they should pay her to go. The additional tickets sold and boost in ratings would be well worth the investment. The problem is; right now she's going there only for her boyfriend. Unless she becomes a fan of the NFL in general, or they pay her a ton of money, she has little incentive to attend other games.

Not a bad idea. They'd still have to pay for her likeness.
Usher is going to have a complex when the only musical artist the audience will care about isn't performing.

Here is the championship song of the 49ers that has not been played since the 1980's. If the 49ers win here is the song that was previously used in past parades.

I'll just watch the commercials but if I see her while fast-forwarding I'll back up and take a look.

The Super Bowl gets huge ratings. Taylor Swifts presence will have only a miniscule effect on ratings. They don't need Swift to sell Super Bowl tickets...

I believe she grew up in a family of Eagles fans, or at least with a dad who roots for the Eagles. Don't know if she was interested in football at all before meeting Kelce, but her taking in an Eagles game or three when there's no conflict with the Chiefs (Thursday or Monday night) might goose the ratings a bit.

Superbowl ratings have been in decline for the past five years. The recent KC/Ravens game pulled a higher female share that was attributed to Ms. Swift being at the game.

Why not send her to a Cardinals, Titans, or Vikings game? "Tune in for the Tennessee vs Washington game. We will show you Taylor Swift sitting in suite at least 12 times".
The whole thing has become absurd theatre. Maybe next year she can date an NBA or Hockey player. The NHL could use the help. Their ratings are abysmal...

Wrong. Last year KC vs Philly showed a substantial increase over the Rams vs Bengals game...
2018 NE/LAR 41.1M
2019 KC/SF 41.6M
2020 TB/KC 38.6M
2021 LAR/CIN 36.9M
2022 KC/PHI 40.4M

Some of this is attributed to market sizes, but you can't see a five year downward trend?
And if TS attracted another 500K female audience, I'd see that as better.

Damn these pundits and politicians better not hijack 49ers fans here.
Not surprisingly, Fox News is jumping on the anti-TS bandwagon too. I think it's outstanding. All they're doing is driving younger people out to vote against Republicans. I'm surprised Fox and Newsmax have any toes left, considering they keep shooting themselves in the foot by attacking her:

No, not much of downward trend. The Tampa vs KC game was during the Pandemic. If Swift was actually performing at the game, you might have a valid point. The bloated Super Bowl pre-game coverage will give the network plenty of time to show her...

From The Athletic:
"The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens made TV history in this season’s AFC Championship Game. The Chiefs’ win over the Ravens last Sunday was the most-watched AFC Championship Game ever, according to CBS.

The game averaged 55.473 million viewers in the early window (3:03-6:12 p.m. ET). The previous record was 54.850 million viewers for the New York JetsPittsburgh Steelers in the late window (6:42-9:54 p.m. ET) on Jan. 23, 2011. The game peaked with more than 64 million viewers (64.022).

The audience for Chiefs-Ravens increased 17 percent versus last year’s comparable early window (San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles). It was also the most-watched non-Super Bowl program on CBS in 30 years since the 1994 Winter Olympics in primetime (Feb. 25, 1994).

Later Tuesday, the NFL said that this year’s playoffs averaged 38.5 million viewers across all platforms, making it the most-watched playoffs since 1988, the first year records were kept."

We have once again drifted pretty far off topic, which is normal RD behavior.

However... a reminder that your moderator (well, this one anyway) draws the line when it starts turning into personal attacks on the quirks of other RD members.

That shouldn't be a terribly difficult line to respect, and yet.

Anyway, we're all a little quirky or we wouldn't be here. Live and let live, or I will close the thread. Thanks.
