Swift-Mania Drives SNF Ratings

Here is Kansas City getting ready for their parade for the Chiefs.
The coverage is going to start at 4:30 AM tomorrow on KSHB:

Nor will their core fan base be alive in 50 years, and that includes me. Taylor Swift is only in her mid 30s, and will be around for many decades to come.

The surviving Beatles, Stones, Beach Boys, et al are in their 80s now. Once they and their audience are gone, in the next 10-20 years, their music will no longer be heard on radio,
you don't hear Bing Crosby or Perry Como on the radio except during the holiday season (beginning right Halloween), but what will terrestrial radio be like in 50 years? today's kids have never used an AM/FM radio other than maybe the car stereo

What about "M*A*S*H"?
The rating for the final episode of M*A*S*H reflected share -- the percentage of sets in use tuned to the program. The record this year's Super Bowl set was total audience. Since there are far more people now than there were in 1983, the total audience was far greater. That's part of the Super Bowl TV story that landtuna gets, technically, right.

50 years we'll still be playing The Beatles (aand Stones, and Led Z, and, and, and). Taylor who?
What stations are playing Beatles and the 60's Stones songs? Essentially, only marginal oldies stations that appeal to those over 65.

In a few more years, nobody will be playing those songs. And Taylor Swift, with nearly two decades of non-stop hits, has fans in two genres and two generations at least. I'll bet that some of her songs are being played 30 years from now.

Kansas City officials hint Taylor Swift was warned to steer clear of Super Bowl parade

Kansas City officials are hinting that Taylor Swift’s handlers have been warned that her presence at Wednesday’s Super Bowl parade could add to the chaos — and be too much for the city’s security to handle — when fans hit the street to celebrate the Chiefs’ second consecutive NFL championship.
“I can’t confirm or deny but we might have already told that to her team, just to keep everybody safe and make things a little bit easier for us,” City Manager Brian Platt told local public radio station KCUR.

We kept her away from the thing that was never going to be a thing. Kudos officials in KC, you can pay yourselves on the back. 😉

Absolutely. “They’ll never stand the test of time” is wrong more than it’s right for the big stars. Good lord, I can still hear Whitesnake on like a half dozen radio stations in town. Whitesnake.

Yeah, Taylor’s gonna be played for a long while.

A mass shooting is now reported to take place near the Chiefs parade route.

I’m watching the Youtube live coverage from KCTV5, there’s going to be a KCPD press conference soon:

One dead, anywhere from 8 to 15 injured, two unidentified men arrested.
