SYNDICATED PROGRAMS THAT HAVE JUMPED FROM STATION TO STATION

Star Trek (TOS)
KLMG (KFXK) > KLTV> KTPN\KLPN

TOS last ran in 1996 on KLTV, before being replaced by TNG.

Star Trek (TNG)
KLTV > KLPN\KTPN

Star Trek (DS9)
KFXK > KLPN

Star Trek (VOY)
KFXK > KLPN

Entertainment Tonight
KETK > KFXK > KETK

MASH
KLTV > KYTX (My TX TV channel)

Regis and Kathie Lee/Kelly
KLTV > KETK > KLTV

Jerry Springer
KETK > KFXK (KETK dropped it in 1996 during Phil Hurley's decision to drop "Trash TV" based upon viewer demand)

And I can't recall whether Wheel of Fortune has spent its entire syndicated run on KLTV or not. I believe Jeopardy did a round on KLMG (KFXK) before it went to KLTV.

Nighttime Family Feud (Ray Combs)
KCOP > KCAL > KCBS (including the Dawson return) Dawson's nighttime run was entirely on KNBC, and the current version has been on KCAL since day one

The nighttime version of Ray Combs' Family Feud first aired on KNBC, not KCOP. Also, I dont recall that KCAL had carried any Ray Combs episodes.

KCAL definitely carried at least a season of Ray Combs' nighttime Feud; I want to say it was either the 1991-92 or '92-93 TV season, at around the same time slot that current version with John O'Hurley presently airs, 6pm.

In Erie, PA, Oprah was originally on WSEE/35 when it first entered national syndication. At some point in the 90s it moved to WICU/12.

In an unusual setup, back in the 80s in Toronto, Wheel of Fortune aired on Global and Jeopardy! aired on CFMT/47. Both moved to CFTO/9 in the early 90s, where they remained until 2008 when CBC picked up the national rights to both shows. Also in Toronto, Oprah was on CITY/57 in the mid-90s, and shortly thereafter moved to CFTO where it remains to this day.

In Detroit, Dr. Phil was on WDIV/4 from 2002 until CBS picked up the rights for its O&O stations including WWJ/62 a couple years ago. WDIV, as far as I can remember, has carried Wheel (nighttime) and Jeopardy! for their entire runs.

In the largest upstate New York markets many of the major syndicated properties have been remarkably stable. In Buffalo Oprah and Dr. Phil have always been on WIVB/4 (a station Oprah actually once owned in the 1990s), Entertainment Tonight on WGRZ/2, Wheel and Jeopardy on WKBW/7, and Springer and Judge Judy on WUTV/29.

In Rochester, Jeopardy and Wheel have consistently been on WROC/8, Regis and Kelly (and predecessor Regis and Kathie Lee) on WHEC/10, Oprah, Rachael Ray and Entertainment Tonight on WHAM/13, and Springer and Judge Judy on WUHF/31.

Let's see

Wheel of Fortune (nighttime)
1983-89 WCBS; 1989-present WABC

Jeopardy
1984-85 WNBC (where it was seen at one point at 3AM!); 1986-present WABC

Family Feud (Combs)
1988-1992 WNBC; 1992-1994 (WWOR, which also aired Richard Dawson's short-lived return and presently airs John O'Hurley's run. But there are reports Steve Harvey is going to replace him next season...jump the shark anyone)

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that when WFFT (Channel 55, Fort Wayne) signed on in late 1977 as an independent, they picked up both Lawrence Welk and Hee Haw from, respectively, WPTA (Channel 21, ABC) and WANE (Channel 15, CBS).

Don't think so. I've seen Northern Indiana TV Guides
from the late '70s/early '80s that show Hee Haw on
WANE and Welk on WPTA going against each other
Saturdays at 7 (6 in the summer).

In Louisville, Welk went back and forth between WLKY
(WPTA's sister station at one time) and WDRB, but I
think Hee Haw was always on WHAS. But also in Louisville,
WLKY got a break of sorts when Oprah moved from there
to WHAS: after trying Bertice Berry (who flopped nationally),
WLKY put Y&R at 4 and has usually nosed out Oprah, not
to mention beating WHAS in the 5 PM news race.

Donahue was on WOKR (now WHAM) for most, if not all of its run.

M*A*S*H was one sitcom that jumped back and forth in Rochester. It has been shown, on and off, since 1979 on WROC. However, whenever WROC hasn't aired it, WUHF has. WUHF aired M*A*S*H in the early 90s. WROC has had Jeopardy and Wheel since the fall of 1992. However, WOKR had it from 1987-92 and before 1987, I believe WHEC and WROC shared them. I believe Wheel was on WHEC, while Jeopardy was on WROC.

Not quite all of its run, but you're right about most. It was a fixture at 9 AM on 13 from the 70s to the 90s. WOKR probably saw the writing on the wall about Donahue's future in the mid-90s though. I remember Donahue being dropped before its last season on WOKR, with nobody else picking it up. That was in the fall of 1995.

A few other Chicaho shows that bounced around:
Regis and Kathie Lee wasn't picked up in Chicago until the spring of 1990 on WFLD, was there until fall 1991 when WLS carried at at 4 am rhen it went to WBBM in January 1993, then to WGN in fall 1995 then to WFLD again in fall 1997 then to WLS again fall 1999 and then to WGN again in fall 2001 where it's been since.

Harrisburg, PA - Wheel and Jeopardy have been at the same channel since 1984 - WHP-TV (CBS). WHP picked up WoF in the fall of '84 along with J!. They have aired back-to-back since then, from 7 to 8, with the exception of 1985-1986, when 21 opted for the Tom Kennedy nighttime Price is Right at 7:30 instead, dispatching J! to 5:30.

Scranton, PA - WoF began on WNEP-16 (ABC) at 7:30pm in the summer of '84, moving to WDAU/WYOU-22 (CBS) in either '85 or '86 at 7pm. It moved to WBRE-28 (NBC) in 1992, where it remains to this day. J! was on WDAU/WYOU-22 at 5pm until January '85, moving to 7pm, and then finally 7:30 when 22 got WoF. It, like WoF, moved to WBRE in 1992 where it's been ever since. Oprah started on WYOU-22 in 1986 and moved to WBRE in 1993, where it remains.

Lancaster, PA - ET has been on WGAL-8 since its inception in 1981. It aired at 5:30pm up until early 1991, where it moved to 7pm and remains. Oprah started on WHTM-27 (ABC) in 1986 and moved to WGAL-8 in 1993, where it remains. WGAL even had Regis & Kathie Lee for a year (1993?), but before and after, it's been on WHTM in Harrisburg.

In the Charleston area:

Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy have been amazingly stable. They have both been on WCBD 2 (NBC) since the very beginning (1983 and 1984 respectively), and have aired, I believe, at the same time slots (7 and 7:30pm). Wheel even came to Charleston in 2007. It is still the most popular show in it's timeslot.

Other shows, not so much.

Jerry Springer- has bounced around all over the place. Started at WCSC, taken off in '95 by station management, then went to WCBD (then ABC), then went to WCIV, then to WTAT/WMMP, where it is today.

Oprah- May have started on WCSC (for first season), then went to WCBD, where it stays today (very popular).

Entertainment Tonight- Didn't air for probably a decade (until 2001), when WCIV added it. It aired at 7 for a season, then went to 7:30, where it is now.

Regis and Kathie Lee (Kelly)- Didn't air in Charleston for several years, aired on WTAT for a couple years, then dropped from '99-'02, then WCIV picked it up, aired at 9am ever since.

Montel Williams- Has aired on every station in town. Started at WCSC, then went to WCIV, moved then to WTAT, then ended at WCBD.

Family Feud- Another show airing on every station in the market. '94-'95 version aired on WCBD before being dropped midseason, this version started at WCSC, then went to WCIV after one season, then went to WCBD for a few seasons. Now airs on WTAT/WMMP.

Two other shows that went from station to station here in Fairbanks:

Star Trek: The Next Generation
KATN > KTVF (dates unknown)

Arsenio Hall
KTVF (1991?-93)
KFXF (1993-94)

Wheel of Fortune, I can first remember vividly on WBTV at 5:30, then 5, then moved to WSOC around the late 80's and followed Entertainment Tonight at 7:30, before finally settling at WCNC in 1996 to once again be paired with Jeopardy.

Jeopardy was also on WBTV at 5, then 5:30, then went to WCNC when Wheel of Fortune went to WSOC and has been on at 7 ever since. It has also aired in the afternoon before, currently also at 4:30.

The Ray Combs version of Family Feud started on WBTV then went to WCNC. By far my favorite version of Family Feud.

Phil Donahue moved from WSOC to WBTV when WBTV cancelled Top O' the Day in 1992. Regis and Kathie Lee replaced Donahue on WSOC. I want to say it started on WBTV.

On the flip side, Inside Edition went from WBTV to WSOC in 1995 and has been airing at 7 on WSOC ever since.

Maury started on WBTV, then went to WCNC, and now WCCB. It may have been on WCCB before.

Before Jerry Springer hit it big, he was on WCNC but he quickly moved to WCCB and has been there ever since.

Jenny Jones was on WCNC, WCCB, and WSOC.

Rosie O'Donnell was on WCNC, WCCB, and WBTV.

Judge Judy started on WCCB, then went to WAXN, then WBTV where it remains today.

and both have been on WFMY since '94.
Speaking of WXII, I think "Entertainment Tonight" has been on that station since the beginning, right? Or did it start on WFMY or WGHP before moving to WXII?

Actually, Lawrence Welk was on WFFT by at least early 1983. Have never seen Ft. Wayne listings from about '75-'82 so maybe WPTA did have it at some point prior. AFAIK, WANE always aired Hee Haw.
