SYNDICATED PROGRAMS THAT HAVE JUMPED FROM STATION TO STATION

Three more from Yakima

Love Connection
KAPP / KIMA / KCYU (35 had them early on, around 1984, then they disappeared altogether for a few years. KIMA placed them at noon in 1990-91, K68EB/KCYU would finish the run to 1994. Pat Bullard's version was not seen here.)

$1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime
KAPP / KIMA (Season 1 on KAPP at 7:30, Season 2 on KIMA at noon, acquired when KAPP started airing Hollywood Squares)

Entertainment Tonight
KNDO / KIMA / KCYU / KAPP (KNDO around 1983-84, then there was a time in the late '80s that ET wasn't seen whatsoever...a rarity for any U.S. market. It came back around 1990 to KIMA at 5:30 weekdays, moved to KCYU-LP at 7:30 weeknights for most of the '90s, KAPP started airing it at 7PM around 1999 and has kept them ever since.)

More for Charlotte (I do not count switching between duopoly stations):
Cheers WBTV to WJZY
Seinfeld: WJZY/WMYT to WAXN
Friends: WCCB to WAXN to WJZY back to WCCB
Millionaire: WBTV to WAXN
Extra: WBTV to WCCB to WJZY (this fall)
Access: WBTV to WJZY
TMZ: WCCB to WJZY
Raymond: WBTV to WCCB
Steve Harvey: WJZY to WBTV
Dr. Oz: WBTV to WSOC to WJZY
Rachael Ray: WBTV to WJZY
The Doctors: WCNC to WAXN (after a year or so hiatus)
Right this Minute: WSOC/WAXN to WJZY/WMYT back to WSOC/WAXN
Steve Harvey Family Feud: WJZY/WMYT to WSOC/WAXN
Big Bang Theory: WCCB to WJZY/WMYT

Also years ago I posted that Jeopardy went from WBTV to WCNC. It actually went to WSOC in 1990, with Wheel of Fortune. But for whatever reason WSOC aired Jeopardy at 11:30 am instead of 7pm, I guess because of ET. I never remembered that but saw it in old listings. Apparently WSOC also aired A Current Affair and I think Inside Edition as well before both went to WBTV. I saw that in old listings as well. I never knew that. WSOC got Inside Edition back in 1995. WCNC picked up Jeopardy around 1993 and then Wheel in 1996.

I wish WBTV had retained Wheel and Jeopardy in 1990 (when PM Magazine was cancelled) and aired them at 7 and 7:30. But in September they are going all local and I can’t blame them.

New York:

Judge Judy
WNYW/FOX 5 > WCBS/CBS 2 (also airs on independent sister station WLNY 10)

Family Feud (1999-present)
WNYW/FOX 5 > WWOR/My 9 (sister stations)

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
WCBS/CBS 2 > WABC/ABC 7 > WLNY 10 > WABC/ABC 7

Wheel of Fortune
WCBS/CBS 2 > WABC/ABC 7

Jeopardy!
WNBC/NBC 4 > WABC/ABC 7

WLNY 10 also carried WOF and Jeopardy! until March 2012 when WCBS bought them out, forcing them to drop all syndies that aired on competing networks WABC or WNBC. They lost the two game shows plus Ellen, which airs on WNBC, but they kept Dr. Phil and Judge Judy which also air on WCBS. WLNY also aired Oprah until its end, which also aired on WABC. However, in most parts of New York City itself, WOF and Jeopardy! were blacked out (or replaced with Matlock IIRC) because of WABC's syndex rights for both shows.

In the Salisbury market, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! are moving from WBOC-DT2/FOX 21 to sister station WDRE/NBC 31 starting next Monday, July 1. They're being swapped with an hour block of The Big Bang Theory. Jeopardy!'s secondary run on WBOC/CBS 16 remains unchanged.

This is a welcome change considering how often one or both game shows often get pre-empted by FOX sporting events (Thursday Night Football and World Series pregames usually start at 7:30 Eastern), and FOX 21 never cared to make up for them with alternate airings; they just wouldn't air the affected episodes at all.

Before FOX 21, the two shows used to be carried on WMDT/ABC 47. After this move, there will now be only 11 FOX affiliates in America that carry Wheel of Fortune: KDVR, WBFF*, WDAF, WXIX, WVUE, WALA, KHON, WLUK, WSYT*, WVHP, and WLUC-DT2 (Mondays only). I believe it's slightly more for Jeopardy!; I know it's on WZTV/FOX in Nashville while Wheel is on WKRN/ABC.

*WBFF and WSYT only carry the weekday run of WOF; the weekend run airs on separate sister stations - WNUV/CW and WNYS/MyTV, respectively.

First of all, I misspelled the NBC affiliate's call letters. It's WRDE, not WDRE (that's an FM radio station serving Binghamton, NY). Should have remembered the "DE" stands for Delaware which is partially served by the station.

Second, it turns out the triopoly of the CBS/NBC/FOX affiliates have shuffled around a lot more syndies than just Wheel, Jeopardy!, and BBT. Here is the full list of moves copied from an article on WBOC's site, all effective July 1:

Note that this doesn't seem to affect weekend syndies; BBT remains on WRDE/NBC and WOF/J!'s weekend runs presumably remain on WBOC-DT2/FOX, but they've been pre-empted the past several weeks by Saturday MLB games which start at 7:00. Most FOX affiliates carrying the two shows air them earlier or on Sunday, but FOX Salisbury has never bothered making them up. Only a handful of markets carry WOF and/or J!'s weekend runs on different affiliates than the weekday runs.
